Well my opinion is based upon lots of real world data regarding drilled rotors. Since I road course cars I've also done a "ton of reading and research" regarding rotors and without exception they do not recommend a DRILLED rotor. Slotted rotors are another discussion and I did not provide any opinion in my prior post.

But as you said, to each their own:)

I don’t have any say in the trailer brakes for the bobcat, it is rented several times a year. None of the rental places have brakes on the trailers.
We've all done sketchy things. I would not pull a trailer that weighs 4-5 tons without trailer brakes. With 35 years of towing, I'm sure you've seen some close calls. Regardless of legal issues.

I have no clue why none of the rental places use trailers with brakes, I’m in Cincinnati so it’s not like I’m in a rural area but that’s how it goes.

Well that is a brake company showing a knockoff of their brand. There is cheap garbage and knockoffs out there no matter what you buy. That doesn’t show that slotted or dimpled rotors are bad at all.

I don’t use articles published by retailers or manufacturers, they lie. I try to find scientific analysis published on a subject if at all possible.
Here is a screenshot of a study on rotors and thermal dynamics. Note the conclusion article vii as well as the table data.

Stock brakes handle stopping fine, I went with nicks geomet regular rotors and posi quiet pads on my 3500, they stop the truck plenty fine. To give you an idea, hotshot guys run stock mopar setup for 300-400k with no issues stepping well over 30k in weight, factory will have no issue with 10-11k

<sarcasm> You mean to tell me that 3500 dually hot shot trucks towing 30K lbs that use the same brake pads as 2500s? No way!!! They'll be eaten alive!!

Do all hotshots run duallys? Front brakes are the same between a 2500/3500/3500dually, and far as the parts fiche, it looks like a very similar rotor and pads compared to my 3500 srw

The only difference I see is the rotor is behind the wheel hub for extra clearance on the inside tire on the dually, otherwise i think it’s a similar overall size rotor, caliper, and pads

I would imagine that not all of them run duallies, but the ones tagging over 20K most likely are.
Looks like the 2500 and 3500 share the same rear brake pads and rotors.

We're both pointing out the same thing, the OEM brakes are more than capable of stopping anything a 2500 can throw at them.

There’s a guy I watch on YouTube who pretty much only runs 3500 srw’s pulling 20-25k on trips. With most his truck now in the 300-400k mile range, but yeah. A 2500 will have zero issue stopping anything it’s hooked too, if not ram/fca would be in major trouble

You guys crack me up, I never once said I had any problems stopping anything with the 2500. I never once said that the stock brakes aren’t good or good enough. I simply asked for recommendations on upgraded brakes nothing more. I only mentioned the towing because I didn’t want to put on something that was “performance” only that may get eaten alive while towing.

Evidently most of you cannot read since this turned into a towing/2500 vs 3500/ pseudo science/ post.

My gosh why can’t you people just offer your experience with the subject asked in the question, if you have experience you can share.

i want to see the guy with drilled and slotted rotors who only tows. They do work well, but i dont see how they can provide the same service life

lines and fluid upgrade along with a better pad would be the most logical first step.

my BMW x5i 50 which i installed x5m drilled rotors lasted under 15k miles before they warped.

my hellcat with slotted rotors, oem set lasted under 10k. The oem brake job is a recommended rotor and pad every time for over $5k.
i did just OEM pads, which caused rotors to warp in under another 4k miles.

I drive my truck harder then both of those vehicles.
at 24k miles,no towing, my pads and rotors are still like new....i wont be suprised to make it to 35K.

Im sitting here wishing my brake pads needed to be replaced. Same goes for these ToyoWontPops

I’m very happy with the R1 with the posi quiet pass from @Nick@GotExhaust.

I went with the drillled and slotted and couldn’t be happier. These things are smooth as silk and stop the truck perfectly.

I was quite shocked at how bad the stock rotors were rusted in the fins, I had a huge pile of rust on the ground after hammering on them to get them off. My truck is only 18 months old, ridiculous how bad the stock rotors rusted.

We shall see how long they last but first impressions, they are way better than the stock garbage.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We have many customers that are as happy as you are with this package. https://www.ramforum.com/threads/r1-concepts-brakes-at-got-exhaust-stop-in-for-savings.115397/page-8

I have used R1 Concepts on 3 different vehicles over the years now and have been extremely satisfied. C5 vette, ‘08 Acura TL and now my Ram. I wouldn’t hesitate one bit to install them. In my experience they perform probably 25% better than OEM. I hesitate to say I drive my vehicles “hard” but its probably a fair statement.

Nick, when I go to your website and type in my vehicle info, I cant find any info on brakes. When I typed brakes into the search bar, it came back with no matches. What gives?

Shoot me a message we can get you set up.

My only issue with stock was the crazy amount of rusting between the plates. That is why I wanted something better but I’d have to agree these things stop the truck smoother and faster than stock. I’d agree with your 25% assessment.

I didnt get the 2500/3500 brake package loaded on the site yet, but here is the 1500 package we offer which is similar just a different application.
