Just wanted to share what’s been going on with my 2025 RAM 1500 Warlock Crew Cab 4x4 with the Hurricane 3.0L SO. I picked it up on June 30, 2025 and within two days and less than 900 miles on the truck, it was already in the shop—and now needs a full engine replacement.
Here’s how it went down:
I get that things happen, but this feels extreme for a brand-new truck I barely even got to drive. I’m not sure I want the truck back after an engine replacement this early. On top of everything else, the truck is stuck at a dealer 11 hours away from me.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Were you able to get a replacement or buyback, or were you just stuck with the repair?
Appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Just trying to figure out how others have handled a situation like this.
Here’s how it went down:
- 6/30 – Bought the truck in NC. During the test drive, I noticed a little smoke from the engine area, but was told it was normal because of “new brakes” or just factory fluids burning off.
- 7/1–7/2 – Drove it under 900 miles. Still saw smoke after every drive and noticed a burning oil smell.
- 7/2 – On a trip to NJ, I noticed a puddle of oil under the truck. Took it to a RAM dealer in NJ.
- 7/3 – Dealer found an internal oil leak but couldn’t immediately locate the source.
- 7/11 – NJ dealer confirmed the entire engine has to be replaced due to warped internal parts. I was also told the truck I was driving was a a safety risk because of the risk of engine failure or fire.
