You’re only talking about a couple gallons concentrate. Just go to the dealer so you get the correct type. You won’t be doing this again for several years so the few bucks more you spend is worth it for the peace of mind.

Dealers might not have the concentrate in stock, so they can sell you more of the 50/50 for almost the same price per gallon.

Get a couple gallons of distilled water from your local grocery store, and for about $52 dollars, you get 4 gallons of coolant.

Absolutely. Suffixes start at AA, and change whenever there's a change in the part and/or supplier.

In 2014 Ram used HOAT antifreeze. The dealer's parts dept should be able to sell you the correct anti-freeze. One word of advice ---don't ever mix the two types of antifreeze(OAT-HOAT). You have no idea the mess it will make in your complete cooling system.

I knew there was a year in which they used both types, I thought it was before 2014, so definately check with your dealers parts dept to make sure the correct type.

No they didn't Jay,by 14 they were using OAT across the board,even in 13 they were using OAT in most of their vehicles. My 13 300 with the 5.7 uses OAT,so did my old 13 shortbox regular cab with the 4.7



Chrysler started using Organic Acid Technology (OAT) antifreeze coolant in 2013, coinciding with the arrival of Fiat. Prior to 2013, Chrysler used Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) coolant. The switch was made because OAT coolant provides longer-lasting protection and requires less maintenance.

• HOAT vs. OAT: HOAT coolants are typically known as 5-year coolants, while OAT coolants are often referred to as 10-year coolants.

I double check on Google again to see if my original information was correct. The original information I had was incorrect; the 2014 Ram did use OAT. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I will delete my original post. This is what Google currently says:

"The 2014 Ram Hemi uses OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant, which is typically purple or a similar shade, and you should not mix it with other coolant types. The specific Mopar part number for this coolant is 68163849AB, and while other brands offer compatible OAT coolants, you should stick to the specified type to avoid engine damage, as color alone is not a reliable indicator of compatibility."

If using the concentrate, yes. 1:1 concentrate with distilled water.

We use vinegar by the gallons at my work, so no shortage of empty clean gallon jugs to mix fresh coolant or get rid of old.

Any leftover new mixed coolant goes back in the Mopar jug, and marked 50/50.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I'm new here and posted wondering if maybe some used Prestone, Peak. I got a $300 price today from dealership for radiator/system flush. May do that as have back issues.

Ya can get Mopar concentrated coolant at Amazon for $24.05 delivered, https://www.amazon.com/Mopar-Year-M...=1755892325&sprefix=Zerex+oat,aps,136&sr=8-18 My self have Zerex for over 10 years, my 06 CTD it used HOAT, but being Mopar coolant is not all that costly just buy it that way ya dont have to worry if ya are using the correct coolant, just remember do not buy the 50/50 mix buy concentrate an mix with Distilled water, DO NOT use tap water that contains contaminants....

Do it yourself. My 2014 pentastar uses mopar part# 68163848AB Original Mopar 10 yr concentrate and diluted 50/50 with distilled water. The mixture is purpleish in color.
I got the Mopar antifreeze and burp kit from amazon.
This kit will help in burping the air from system. Plenty of videos on how to burp the air using this kit. Remember to drain/refill the coolant reservoir. I also attached a picture of the coolant when mixed.

I know this might not be a popular answer with some members but I worked in a plant that made antifreeze and all antifreeze is the same. It is just colored differently according to the company specs. It all comes out of the same tank and goes into another vat and is then colored according to what the company wants. Yellow, blue, red etc. it has one spec and that’s it all this mopar and delo and such is hoopla

I would like to know the name of the company that makes just one recipe of coolant in different colors for all applications so I can avoid purchasing their product.

Besides the compatibility issue already mentioned, there is a difference in chemical formulas between OAT and HOAT (IAT) coolants. OAT versions are formulated strictly from organic materials while HOATs contain inorganic chemicals. Manufacturers will sometimes specify OAT or HOAT based on the compatibility of materials used in the engine and cooling system. This is why GM specifies DexCool in some vehicles, and not in others.
