i did my cabin filter install today on my 2013. i had no problems cutting out the duct work, but ran into some things i hadn't seen anyone talk about. When trying to get the filter into the slot, there was a pesky wiring harness in the way. i unplugged it and moved it. then i had the same problem others have had with the lid not wanting to snap on, particularly on the right side. with the help of a good flashlight and some contortion, i spotted another wire that was interfering with the latch. with that moved out of the way everything went as planned. what i discovered when i started the truck was the defroster light was lit, but air was blowing out of the heater. also the temperature control was set mid scale. everything went back to where it should be when i started adjusting the controls. im guessing the harness i unplugged, reset to some sort of default when it was plugged back in, even though the key was off the whole time. i live on a dusty road, so this was definitely worth the effort.

Given the amount of automation in these trucks, I've come to the conclusion that the first step in troubleshooting ANYTHING other than a flat tire is to disconnect the battery for at least long enough to finish a beer.

Strange. I had zero issues on my 2012. I did the cutting and filter/cover install in less than 10 minutes. No wires in the way.

If I remember correctly on mine, I did have to persuade the right side in because of a harness or something, but it went in just fine after some wiggling. Didnt have to unplug anything though
