So I'm lookin into buyin a cam for the hemi, I'm not familiar with the Hemi's when it comes to the engine, I was lookin on Summit's site at the different lifts on the cams... So I was wonderin what a good size lift would be that's not too over the top and I don't have to go replacing the rest of the motor just to run it? What size cam do some of yall have with the 5.7? I'm new to this lol :)

What don't you want to do to do a cam, let's start there. The bulk of the cams out there right now need the 6.1 springs and rods in the heads so you don't hurt anything so bare minimum you should do those with any cam you get. Next is tuning, do you have a tuner/programmer now? If so what one? That will help determine how big of a cam you can go. There are some that don't require much more than a canned tune to run right and there are more aggressive ones tthat require a custom tune to get it to run.

Personally I have a comp 268 and love it but it needs a custom tune to run.

I have an Inertia Crazy Spartan in my truck and is my second cam in the truck. Like Ryan said what all do you want out of it?

268 is the best rc 2x4 cam imo. Its track times & have proven itself over & over & over

Hmm.... yeah I know that youre sposed to do certain small things to the head etc with a cam as well as gettin it dyno tuned. I just want to beef it up a lil bit and plus I love the sound of a cam, nothin too serious but enough to know you added some HP. I planned on gettin it dyno tuned once I put the cam in.... where did yall buy your cams from then?

Hit up 3rdstrikeperformance there our newest vendor and have everything if you go with the comp cam. All you will need are 6.1 exhaust springs 16 of em and 6.1 pushrods along with fluids. You can install the cam 1 of 2 ways, heads on with the correct tool or heads off so you can fight the springs on the bench.

i got mine from the lxforum. my cam new is around 450. but u might want to start with the exhaust first and get some headers so you can maximize the cam's potential

If you go the route of pulling the heads do the headers at the same time. What are you currently using for tuning?

I don't have a programmer or anything for it yet, I don't have anything done to the motor besides a CAI, Its all stock so far. I just paid it off and now I have the extra $ to start buying things...

Ok well w/ that being said there is no need in wanting to do a cam right now. It would be best if you do all the supporting mods 1st such as a programmer, full exhaust, gears etc. Then after all that worry about a cam. Doing a cam just b/c of the sound is a very wrong reason to do a cam
