Service electronic stability control error, either from the dead battery I had this morning or from when I was trying to piggyback fuses when hardwiring my dashcam

This morning I noticed my truck battery was dead, after jump starting it and letting it run for around 20 minutes I didn't get any error messages. I've been in holidays for over a week now and still took the truck out a few times, my dashcam being plugged in the cigarette lighter may have caused it? The only thing is when the truck was running during that time I saw no error messages.

After all this I decided that because it was a nice day outside that I'd go ahead and hardwire my dashcam, I came across a picture diagram on another forums showing what each fuse is labeled as, but also confirmed in my manual before messing with any fuses. I tapped into the trailer camera fuse (F44), along with the adjustable pedals fuse (F20). After turning the truck on I was left with a bunch of error codes such as service electronic stability control, 4WD and more. I removed my fuse taps and put everything in how it was before and even disconnected the battery for a few minutes which didn't help.

I'm new to this kind of stuff so any help would be amazing, I'm just pretty worried now but I think this could be due to a bad battery? Which may be under my warranty

Drop by your local Canadian Tire and pick up one of these old style testers, and test your battery.

I had a multimeter sitting around that read 14.50V yesterday and then when I plugged in my obdlink mx+ to possibly try and reset the codes, it read that my battery is 14.80V. Not sure if there's a difference from what you linked when it comes to testing the battery or how accurate my obdlink reading would be

I checked the fuses to see if they were all in properly which they were, reset the codes twice with no luck and even disconnected that battery for 20 minutes and tried resetting a few more times with no luck.

Also read online that even if the battery reads a good voltage that it doesn't necessarily mean that the battery is good resulting in the error codes still popping up. My friend works at a shop and will be bringing a scanner tomorrow which might be better than the obdlink for resetting.

If that doesn't work then I'll try a dealer as long as they don't try to sell me on some bs, but I'm just hoping that when this gets fixed that the error won't pop up again. I know that an error code will eventually reset after driving the vehicle a few times, but with all the errors I have I'm worried to drive it right now

Just buy the battery tester i gave you the link to,it's still one of the best battery testers you can have, the newer digital testers leave alot to be desired as far as load testing a battery goes. You're multi-meter and scan tool don't actually give you a good indication of how good your battery actually is,while that old school toaster tester will tell you whether the battery is up to snuff when you put a load to it,like trying to start the truck..

In my opinion something get too much voltage… so first check fuses/cables that going under driver side

It also could be just an sensor

mostly all American cars cars had nasty wiring

Hey fellas, thanks for all the help on diagnosing the problem. I drove the truck around the block with the errors still displayed to see if it would reset them which worked! If they do come on again then I'll check the fuses to see if any might be dead or have high voltage, same goes for the battery charger. I did call a dealer which they said a battery should be under warranty since the truck is below 60,000km

I hope the messages won't pop up again, but I think it was just from when the battery was dead, was worried to drive the truck around the block incase I damaged anything but it was in limp mode for a minute before all the messages cleared. I shut the truck off 3 times and tested my 4wd since there was an error in that as well when this all happen

I appreciate this community, this just had me worried since I just got the truck less than a month ago

You'd still be wise to buy the battery tester i gave you a link to,as once you kill a battery,it goes downhill rapidly afterwards,it'll never come back to being as good as it was before it was drained

Some things take a few start and stop cycles to come back. When I changed the batteries in my dually, it took about 4 cycles for all the cameras to come back up, and two cycles for the stereo to come back.

If the OP has a Partsource nearby, they likely have a battery tester behind the counter that he can borrow to test the battery / batteries in their lot instead of buying his own.

They'll probably have a digital tester, and they aren't really a load tester. Whats wrong with buying one,so you have it on hand,it's a tool that you'll probably use more often then you think,if you have it.
