I'm looking at getting a new exhaust system for my Ram at some point in the future. I currently have a flowmaster super 44 muffler but wanted something a little different. I really like the way both the corsa and the carven series (both progressive and competitor) sound. My question is, is it really worth spending almost 2-3 times as much to get the corsa exhaust as opposed to the carven? Is there really any significant advantage to getting a full cat back exhaust with new tailpipes as opposed to just a muffler swap which is essentially what the carven exhaust kit is? Also, how is it that some people can say they don't get any drone with the carven exhaust and yet someone else can have the exact same setup and say they get a ton of drone?

I can't speak of the Corsa, but I just dumped the Carven Progressive. The drone between 55mph-61mph when in cruise mode was unbearable. Turning off the MDS offered no respite either.

Interesting. I mean I certainly don't want to settle for an exhaust that's going to give me a constant headache while I'm driving, just to save some money. However, I heard that for the 5th gen Rams, Carven actually did away with the progressive series kit for that truck because of people complaining about the drone. Apparently, the more aggressive competitor series has less drone. What's leaning me towards the Corsa is that it's engineered to be drone free and I haven't heard anyone say otherwise.

I do like the borla now that you mention it. Does the sound change overtime since it has that packing material in the muffler?

not sure if i can accurately comment on that. i bought my truck end of december 18. came with a borla catback (muffler just says borla, nothing else so not sure what "edition"). i haveny noticed it change at all. no drone at all. but i do not drive highway. all backroads.

Here’s sound clips of my Carven Progressive with the 5” tips. I didn’t experience any drone and I do a lot of highway travel.

Here’s a very short clip of what is sounded like after I installed ARH 1 3/4 headers, cats, and y-pipe. No drone, but noticeably louder.

Hope this helps.

Have you looked at the solo Mach 40 either? Nick sells em and they claim to be drone free.
Haven't really ever heard of them before but I looked at a few videos on Youtube and it does sound quite nice.

Definitely agree with disabling the MDS. Makes any exhaust sound crappy.

I don't even notice my MDS kicking in and even if I did, it certainly doesn't bother me. I even tried the gear selector method that disables it and there was almost no difference whatsoever in the driving experience. That's my take at least.

Very nice!!! That's what I like about the corsa so much, such a unique sound. That and of course, no drone.

Did you pay full price for that exhaust ($1200-$1300) or were you able to find it cheaper?

You can't find this exhaust cheaper anywhere, you will pay full price, unless you go with their non-stainless version I think called DBS. Purchased thru forum sponsor Nick at Got Exhaust, he may have given me free shipping. It is my understanding that Corsa Exhaust is made to order, meaning, there isn't a system sitting on the shelf waiting for you. You order and they build it. For the price it is totally worth it, a very nice system to install, zero drone, sounds great, and slightly hear MDS but its not bothersome.

Any other mods? Sounds great.

Only other mods are AEM drop in filter. Someday when warranty is gone, I will go with long tube headers to wake her up some more.
