Hey all. New to the forum. Traded in my 15 Grand Cherokee for a 15 RAM 1500 a few days ago. 22k on the clock.
So far impressions are mostly good. Its more truck like... makes sense. Rides well. Milking the MPGs and averaging about 17~ so far. I usually averaged 15-17 in the Grand Cherokee so if I can stay close to that I'll be happy.
This thread, however, is about chasing a squeak/squeal. I think its brakes but can't be sure. I have a slight squeal when driving that I can hear when I'm alongside other vehicles or a wall because it bounces back at me. I thought it was brakes because I had some for sure break squeal when applying. Not bad, but annoying nonetheless. The sound sounds like it could also be suspension bouncing around a little... is that a thing in these trucks?
Because I thought it was brakes I knew it would be a battle warranty wise, I went to the store and bought some new pads and swapped out the front. It actually seemed to help a little (but not eliminate) on the stopping but not eliminate the cruising squeak. I didn't do the back because they didn't appear to be worn at all.
So... what next? Should I see if the dealer will drive for a few miles and have a suggestion? Is there other places I should look right now?
Thanks guys.
