Not sure if this is the correct name but it's a non fouling plug extender. Apparently that 1 cylinder has been pumping some oil fouling the plug.

^^^^ Yep. Designed to pull the spark plug out of the " Dirty Zone " You can always just screw the plug in without it see what happens but probably foul it out pretty quick but before it does it will smoke some. Had an old Camaro do this once.

I'd put in a new plug and if that corrects you're missfire even just temporarily before it fouls again I'd be checking the valve guide seals.

So far that’s the only cylinder that has one

It’s called an oil fouler. It helps that particular cylinder from fouling the plug because that cylinder is burning oil for some unknown reason

Well, I would try the plug without and with the fouler if you have to. See where that takes you, may possibly have to use the fouler and a hotter plug in that one cylinder. As long as you can deal with it i would run it, but if it keeps fouling or smokes too much then maybe an engine. My problem was my rings but i wanted a bigger engine so i did that.

Can't say for sure but most likely when you get on it. All my years iv'e hardly ever seen a vehicle smoke idling. I had a buddy that had and old chevy 4x4 and it would smoke idling, but not at all when you get on it. Never understood that.

I don’t either but my uncle told me that the plenum could be causing that as well bc it was about 2 quarts low today

Cylinder 8 fouling is a pretty good indicator of bad plenum.

Somebody found the plug being fouled and rather than fix the oil burn and plenum issue they used a fouler

Bad plenum gasket or plenum itself
