So I installed my connecting rods this weekend and whenever i torqued them down i couldn't spin the crank. Has anyone ever ran into to this before? Spins fine until i torque them and then can't move it at all. engine is a 4.7l

Did you plastigage the rod bearings? Did you center the crank?

I didn't use plastigage. I will go get that today. I'll check the rod and make sure they are all facing the right way. I'm pretty sure they are. Thank y'all for the replies. I was reading somewhere that the bearing could be backwards but there isn't a tab on them like the crankshaft bearings. How would you know if they were backwards?

Unfortunately I don’t have much of a choice. I don’t have the money to have someone do it for me. So I’m trying to learn. I’ve done engine work before but never anything to do with the pistons and crankshaft.

A simple mistake can cost you an engine. Think about that when you decide what you can and can't afford.
