lot of info lol just wondering though "about" what kind of gains can you expect in various octane levels? for instance 93 octane isn't available were I live, 92 can be found but not in my city. I mainly have 87, 89, and 91. about what gains would I see using 89 , 91 and 92 octane? I wouldn't even ask about 87, because that's just silly lol

Its usually a 5hp increase with each octane jump, so while a 93 tune will get you 30-35hp/tq, an 87 tune is usually closer to 15-20hp/tq.

Please forgive me for hijacking this thread. You've answered most of my questions already, while answering everyone else's.

You have definitely convinced me to go ahead and get the tuner for my 2015. I had concerns due to not being able to tune the transmission itself, but it sounds like it's not too big of a deal.

I can notice a bit of power loss since getting my truck back last weekend from having a 4" lift and 35's put on. Not terrible, but it's there.

I just ordered the Magnaflow (14") 12198. I'm getting ready to order the Vararam intake today, and the tuner/ECU with Hemifever tune this weekend. Would an 87mm throttle body from Moes benefit me for everyday driving? Or is it mainly for people who take their trucks to the track?

The throttle body is more of a gain for the guys with headers and that race. Its one of those mods that does show a slight increase in responsiveness, but the majority of the gains will be at higher rpms at WOT.

The 66RFE seems to be holding up better to this. I cant explain why as they are very similar transmissions, but I dont know of many 2500's that have had any trouble.

From what i understand, they are all the same transmissions with just added gears, they are all based off the 4speed from the 90's

Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. One last question. What is the differences (pros/cons) between the intune vs trinity tuner? Thanks again.

The Trinity comes with a monitor that displays your gauges and lets you record 0-60, 1/8th, and 1/4 mile times. It also works on just about every American made vehicle from 2000-up.

The i2 does not come with a monitor or record 0-60, 1/8th, or 1/4 mile times. It also only works on Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep vehicles. The plus side to this unit is that you can buy multiple licenses from Diablo that will allow you to tune more than 1 vehicle with the same tuner. Still has to be a Dodge, Chrysler, or Jeep, but this is a feature that is not offered with the Trinity.

Performance gains are identical between the 2 tuners, so no difference there.

Very cool. Would allow me to "share" my tuner with friends and family as long as I buy the license and as long as it's the fore mentioned brand vehicles. I like that idea. I'm not out recording times or anything. Just want something that will wake up my hemi a good deal and provide the power I've lost from lift/tires. Very helpful feedback. Thanks again.

No problem at all. For anyone that isnt racing and monitoring gauges all the time, the i2 is a great way to save a few dollars and still get all the performance gains of the tuner.

No you cannot share the tuner with anyone. It can only be used on one vehicle at a time. So you would have to uninstall the tune from your truck, and then load the firmware for their car onto the tuner.

Besides, it takes 30-40 minutes to install the tune on your truck, and then 20-30 to remove it. Huge pain lol. Only time mine ever is uninstalled is when I go to the dealer, like tomorrow for the airbag recall :( lol

Not on the new i2. You can now purchase extra licenses from Diablo for about $200 each to tune multiple vehicles with the same tuner. This is only an option with the i2 tuner though..not with the trinity or the older InTunes.

If you look at the passenger side firewall under your hood, you will see a silver box with 2 electrical wire connections lugged into it. That is your PCM. It takes maybe 5 minutes to remove the 3 bolts and 2 electrical plugs that hold it in place. Very easy swap.

Is it really worth the extra 400-500$??? I'm having trouble deciding that. I was ready to pull the trigger on the tuner itself untill I read this thread and found out about the pcm. Kind of broke my heart a little bit...

The tuner is still the best bang for buck mod you can buy. While it is more expensive than it used to be, it is still well worth it IMO.
