2018 1500 5.7 90k mi...

I recently installed a 183 t-stat after a radiator flush.

Just curious on what temps range everyone runs at.... non stock t-stat responses only please.

I'm hitting 220 anytime I'm on the gas for more then 10 seconds even just maintaining speed
And 194-196 at a stop
Never breaks 188 at idle

Temp outside... texas so 45 when I left for work 85 on the way home, temp ranges didn't seem to change because of weather.

My truck had factory coolant until I got it in 2024 and the build up is still coming out like 5 flushes later. And I wondering how much the build up is effecting my cooling capacity.

Or maybe my radiator is actually a tang dispenser

A 180 if it's operating properly should run between 185 and 190 running down the road in most instances, even if both the mechanical and electric fan aren't working properly.Did you check the thermostat prior to installing it,just cause it's new doesn't mean it's any good.
A pot of water on the stove, and a meat thermometer are all you need to check it.Use the meat thermometer to check the water temp the thermostat starts to open at,as you bring the water up to temp
Have you ran any RMI through the cooling system

I'll pull it out this weekend and check it.
Also thanks mentioning RMI I have never heard of it.... I'll try it out

I was thinking it was the oem coolant crust because it ran within what I assume the ranges should be until the vinegar flush passed though the heater core.

I did my flushes in stages because the build up was so thick
1st 24 hour soak 1:3 vinegar in radiator only, and ran heat for 2 min before dumping.
Ran normally in-between.
2nd flush t-stat swap with radiator and engine block flush but did not run heater so vinegar could soak there.
After turning on heater my temps shot up.
From 3rd flush on... I've been dumping the radiator and flushing with only distilled water until clear, then I ran the heat and park it for the night.

and no I did not flush the heater core in reverse the kit was still being delivered when I started and I haven't had time yet. Plus I was hoping I wouldn't need to, but distilled water is adding up.
