My 17 Laramie with less than 11k miles started having cruise control issues yesterday. It doesn't do it all the time but on ocassion I have to push the steering wheel button several times before it'll turn on. Once on it works perfectly. Anyone else have this issue?

My buddy was just telling me yesterday that his 2016 Laramie Longhorn was doing this same thing... I told him to take it in to the dealership for warranty repairs...

Sometimes mines won’t go at all.

Hello bryan28,

If you end up going into the dealer, let us know. We can get this formally documented our end and escalate to a Case Specialist for further assistance.

Hello,

As I mentioned to the OP, if you decide you'd like to get this checked out by the dealer, let me know. I can certainly help with this process.

Mine does the same thing, sometimes I have to push it 10 or 15 times before it will activate, other times it works the first try. Very annoying. 2017 1500 4x4 limited

I wonder if these malfunctions are covered under the recent recall for the cruise control?

I wonder the same. I don’t even know if mines is under that recall.

@Bad Habit57 mine is still bad after having the recall done on Friday, even though they said it should fix the problem. I will be calling them this morning to set up another appt.

Hello. I am glad I found this thread. My 2014 1500 LongHorn is having Cruise issues. Sometimes (usually in the cool of the morning) it works great. Other times like today when coming home from a local short trip, it quit working altogether (would not turn on); temp in the low 90's (it worked on the way there). I tried the "push multiple cruise buttons at the same time" thing, and that did not work. I did not try pushing the button dozens of times though. Thoughts?

Is my truck covered by the recall? I have had it for about three weeks.

Thank you.

My 2010 has been having issues of working in the morning, but not the afternoon when it's warm or hot. It'll turn on, but just won't set the speed.

I tried the "hit-the-steering-wheel" suggestion from a YouTube I watched, it worked for me. We'll see how long the Cruise Control works now.

I don't notice the cruise doing this, but the other side with the arrows to go through the menu, sometimes i have to push them a couple of times to get where i want to go. Temperature outside doesn't seem to affect.

I was going to post a new thread about this very thing, but did a search and see it's represented here. I am also having continued problems with the cruise control. It's like what you all say - hitting the buttom at times turns it on first try, but other times it can take anywhere from several to not at all (I've actually counted button pushes to 100+).

Today was the day, took it to the dealer to talk about it and have an appointment for next week along with an oil change that's close to schedule. The Service writer said it's something he hears all the time, so another well known issue that FCA knows but isn't addressing (hemi tick, rear manifold bolts, RCSB driveshafts, etc...). I'll post results when it gets done.

With mine, there is no rhyme or reason. Weather, time of day, or anything else, can't find any common factors. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My "cancel" button also is a sometimes thing, but hitting the brake always kicks it off. When I can get the cruise to come on, it works perfectly from then on (except for the iffy cancel).

Of course, today, when leaving the house for the dealer, CC turned on first time!

Sounds to me like it's the contacts in the buttons on the steering wheel. My ram works fine but the menu buttons on my wife's grand caravan at times have to be punched a couple of times to get them to work, at other times they work just fine.

I had this issue over a year ago. They pulled the switch. Said contacts were dirty. Cleaned and re-installed.

Well it’s back and the truck is going in next week for repair again.

This is not covered as part of the current cruise control recall. That recall requires only a PCM flash and no new parts. So these switches are not included in the recall cost. Get yours looked at ASAP if you have warranty. I’m still under warranty so I’ll be covered but I’m hoping they just install a new switch since it’s repeated the problem.

Could be a wire harness issue too.

My cruise quit working. I pulled the battery connection off for a while and it worked twice that day. I tried a new switch and it worked on my test drive and hasn't worked since. I see several have had problems but haven't posted cures. Thanks
