First of let me say hello and how much I have enjoyed reading the forums. I currantly own a 2005 6.0, it is leaving in a couple of weeks, I hope. I am not happy with Ford to say the least but now they have a "whole new engine". After reading your forum and some of the stroke me forums it is between these two brands. I just can't bring myself to look at government motors. Talk me into a 2013 or 2014 cummins or 2013 or 2014 powerstroke. I owned a 2000 Ram CC SB 4X4 and LOVED that truck but the wifes bad knees made it leave so a Dodge is not new to me but the Cummins would be.

The new powerstroke is a force to be reckoned with. I have several buddies in the army that love them to death. Ford is finally doing it right by building it themselves, I'd love to have one. Just not in the budget. I can't put my .02 for the newer cummins as I've yet to work/own one.

What about a 2012 crew cab 4X4 SB Longhorn trim? Mileage? Any issues with that model year? I have found a heck of a deal on a new one!

If you can get a '12, I would say jump on it. These damned '13s seem to have a lot of electrical gremlins.

The new 6.7 Scorpion (Ford Diesel) is one hell of a potent motor, and certainly withstands some serious torture (YouTube the H&S Torture Tests). I like the interior on the Ram more, but not by much. If I was looking for a tow pig, it would simply come down to price.

Tough call, but with Ford swapping engines as fast as they make "Special" Mustangs, its hard to trust a "NEW" engine.

GM and RAM have been using their engines long enough to know what they got.

I say RAM or GM Diesel

Until you show me something overtime that is better then a Cummins, there is no question here. The mechanics at our shop told the owner don't buy any rigs that do not have the Cummins period. Every rig we bought was an International with a Cummins. Why would both mechanics insist on Cummins? 40 years of working on trucks, head mechanic had 30 years and other guy had 10, and neither of them would ever consider anything but a Cummins when asked what is best. I got one of the new rigs and the only thing I needed was general maintenance in 7 years. I also had a 01 Cummins, and I just loved it. When you resell anything Cummins, it is like a honda, you automatically get the benefit of any doubt. Good luck either way, Ford makes a fine product, but there is only one Cummins.

A buddy of mine just traded his F250 in for a Ram 2500. He uses it for work and actually gets it dirty.

He enjoyed the Ford but his boss has a 2500 CTD and my buddy would drive it once in a while..fell in love with the interior and the ride comfort, evidently that is where Ford is lacking.

I was a big "bleed ford blue" guy and I was only gonna buy an F150..until he convinced me to shop around..needless to say once I drove the 1500..there was no turning back.

I love my 2013 ram 2500 laramie cummins. Its awesome! Super torque and quick for a heavy truck. I enjoy driving it every day. Wont go gas again....im hooked on cummins. I just took a 1400 mile trip. 22.3 mpg on way up with south winds and on the way back, i got 20.6 with a south wind in my face. All numbers from the evic...actual is more like 20.1 and 18.9 hand calculated. Still awesome!!!! Its nice to drive 7 hours straight before you have to fill up :)

All about the straight six man. The numbers are a battle and even on older ones where the Cummins is not higher numbers they pull like crazy with the way the six gets high Torque at low RPM. To me that is biggest difference in the big three. Nothing can pull with such ease like the Cummins. I am glad Dodge does not make the diesels like Ford does. Leave it to experts that have proven ability in tanks, semi trucks and nearly any kind of vehicle that is needed for work. Resale on Cummins is amazing and you will be able to get top dollar if you decide to upgrade down the road.

300k on my fathers 03 5.9 and I don't think he will get rid of it till he breaks over half a million miles. He was even talking the other day about resleaving and reringing it but I told him I wasn't sure if you can do that with the 5.9.
