I will be building my own rocker guards/steps in the near future so I am starting a thread for anyone interested. Instead of frame mounted sliders I am planning on just building some overly built steps that will double as rocker guards. Eventually I will end up modifying my design and build actual frame mounted rock sliders with an incorporated removable belly pan. Planning on using 2”x2”x0.125” angle mounted to the factory points inside the rocker. 2”x0.125” flat stock attached to the pinch weld on the rockers bolted through the factory holes. May drill and add a few extra bolts if I feel it’s needed but 6 may be enough. 1”x0.125” square tube as bracing between the angle and flat stock. 2”x0.125 square tube as the main runner. 1”x0.125 square tube between the 2” flat stock and the 2” square tube. 1.5”x0.125” round tube as the outer bar. 1.5”x0.125” tube as reinforcement from the main rail to the outer bar. I plan on angling the outer bar up slightly. May get 1”x0.125” angle to use as a flat step attached to the top of the outer tube and use some adhesive grip pad on it. The tubing will just be spray painted for now until my buddy opens his powder coat shop back up.
Edit:Second thoughts. I may add in reinforcement attachments sandwiched between the cab and frame mount as well. Talk about super solid and secure.
