I have read the site and I understand how to email diablo for a custom tune. How are you able to create your own custom tune and change your shift points and stuff like that? Is that what emailing for a custom tune is?

To do a custom pcm tune and do it your self you need the software which is around $3000 or so. Same with custom tcm tuning. You can do some trans shift schedules on your own and some engine tuning with just the handheld though

With the email tune, you log a set of parameters that the person tuning your truck wants you to and send him the file he will then write a tune based on your log file and mods and email it back to you. Usually they can get it close in a few revisions however a dyno tune is going to be better, at a higher out of pocket cost

The trans shift and some engine tuning is what I was wanting to do. I read another post where they were changing the up and down shift rpms and I can't seem to find out where to do that kind of stuff. I had a superchip at one time that would let me do it on the hand held. Im missing something I think.

You are only going to get that through Superchips

Not true. 2005+ you can do up WOT up and down as well as Part throttle up and down with DSP. SC can do TM% that the DSP cannot do.

What revision or CROM are you running? 05s can do the part throttle shifts 1-3 up and down as well as WOT shifts

Right, never said they did. 1-3 up and down WOT and partial. Complete trans control would be a CMR tuned trans and that would blow everything SC does out of the water. But this is an argument / discussion for another thread.

To the OP - you have the right tuner, just need to boot it up and see what version of the software its running.

Ok the version needed to be updated and I was able to change my shift points and customize like I was wanting. Thanks for the help. I didn't think about checking for updates.

Yeah they have had some issues with the tune not reading quite right for the fans adjustments. Be sure you don't go to extreme on the trans adjustments and that the points make sense or you'll get a jerky ride and can do some damage.

If you go off the points I posted and tweak from there you should be good, only do about a 50-100rpm at a time. Also just an fyi there is no fan on the trans cooler. Sure the AC wasn't on?

No the ac wasn't on im going to check it out more shortly. There's alot more customizing on my dsp now ... I like it! Some of the engine setting im not sure about like leaning or richening the fuel. I don't k now if there's a real good way to check this unless you are on a dyno or measuring 0-60 times. Anyone familiar with that setting?

DO NOT touch the timing or fuel mix unless you have an A/F meter in the exhuast and a full engine system to keep an eye on knock ect. The ringlands in these trucks do not give you room for mistakes.

Before you go to much deeper pick up an AI with a Wideband setup or just two gauges like I have. Ryan is running the AI with A/F on it, Im running the AI with a AEM for the wideband. If your looking into changing your tunes up your gonna want to go cammed soon so might as well get the gauges out of the way.
