I have the 2013 projectors and I want to put LED cubes in them as high beams (like in the picture below). However, there's that plastic piece that sticks out into that area and I wanted to know what ideas y'all have about cutting that piece out.

oh........just a quick note............

The stock mounts for the projectors headlights are....well, weak, in my opinion. The stock bowl, with its OEM projector weighs in around 12oz. I've seen them break in shipping - wonder about that BIG pothole, eh? Add in FXRs (maybe) and its up to 1 lb 2 oz. Put a Rigid dually in there............almost 4 POUNDS. Thats a lot of weight....

We will not do this modification because of that. ;)

That would look cool but damn are those lights expensive to be cutting.

I hadn't even thought of that... but I will definitely take that into consideration. If I decide not to do it then I'll probably just save them to put into the rear bumper as back up lights.

No, that was custom made on that set but that would be sweet if they did come like that

Hey JJ I have another question. How can I make that turn signal piece black like that? I emailed the guy and he said it's translucent but didn't tell me how he did it and has yet to reply to me again.

Also, I decided against the LEDs. I'll probably just order some HIDs from you for my lows instead.

We just use a "tint" mix of our gloss black.......translucent, spiffy, but damnit thats dark and....well.....I'd want to see 'em lit!

if you are going to open them lights.......PLEASE do a retrofit on the projectors. You will be impressed!

They're already opened up and painted. I'm just waiting to put them back together because I keep wanting to do more lol. What exactly do you mean by retrofit?

pull the stock projectors and put FXRs in there. You've already got the hard part done........do the easy part that gives you awesome output

Check my drive along out - http://www.ramforum.com/f41/video_drivealong_my_lights-41602/

Cost? $350. You get the FXR projectors, retrofitting plate (makes the install nice), 35W D2S ballasts, XB35 D2S bulbs, and wiring for your truck (full harness). If you are already going to get HIDs, this is about 180 more than that, and will BLOW away the stock projectors.

I hear it now that I listened to it with sound on my computer. I was on my phone last night and didn't want to bother anyone else so I had the volume off. Do you have any comparisons between the stock projector with HIDs and the FX-Rs?

And for the cost you said $350, but I was looking at the website and it says $640. Is that if I send the headlights and you do the work?

350 is the parts needed for your build there.

640 is the parts, supplies, labor, shipping and any other fun I have when doing the retrofits here.
