Mr Lyle, Question for you. I'll assume the 15 or 20% underdrive set up for your ATI damper. Im in the exact same position has you, 'cept about 4 weeks ahead and I done chose to do it myself. And I mean I'm alone out there (wife and kids avoid me like I've got covid). Mine is in a million f pieces right now and I think I broke every plastic connector I f touched. Just the third safety lock I've been breaking though, they are still double locked, mounted with brackets, pressed together, and sealed in epoxy. (Sarcasm with slight humor, mostly bitter) who in their sane mind came up w all those f clips? Whoops...... sorry.

15% UNDERdrive damper - are you concerned or any readers have concerns about a heavy electrical load at or near idle? Lights winch etc. Just curious,

Also are you changing the mechanical clutch fan for the electric fan? Just more clean up of parasitic losses but I believe supposed to be as much or more then the damper, the two together should be notice able for sure. Plus the electric, $100, is controllable, and opens up the entire front of engine between water pump and radiator.

What cam specs you go with? And which Springs?

Mine (truck) resembles a nightmare from some poor OCD fellas brain. Im waiting on my heads from the machine shop and then get busy putting all this together. be Dying'⁵ here. But it has given me time to realize I wanted to port my intake manifold, TB , and add an oil catch can. The inside of the all the vanes and tb are just nasty dirty, 90k, that **** aint gonna fly.

Oh yeah, No emissions so goodbye egr and cats. And the cam is thumpy enough to warrant a 3000 stall speed TC.

Who tunes you? The tune with cam and heads - $450 on mine.

Oh and a 180f thermostat.

Well, that’s a lot but let’s go. No concerns with voltage load.
I have aTSP stage 2 cam (specs 218/226 582/582 112+3) hellcat lifters, TSP push rods and PSI springs.
Circle D 3000 stall Tc, upgraded Solenoid, Aluminum billet heavy duty valve body plate, transgo shift kit, 4:56 front and rear gears.

I have the 180 stat, long tubes, catless true dual exhaust (xpipe), 87mm TB, catch can, no e fan yet but will be doing this as well.

I’m tuned by Hemi Fever and my stage 2 tune cost me right around $500 I believe. I already had the stage 1 tune, but adding the cam , I needed the stage 2. I shelled out $3100CAD for my cam converter that consists of everything I’ll need to install.

I noticed no charging issue (but no big amp or lights or anything extra), very small gain, but the biggest improvement felt like the engine just was smoother overall - maybe placebo effect, I don't know lol.
Totally stock 5.7.

Buy yourself one of the better quality jump boxes and throw it in the truck Lyle. That way if you do have a charging issue, you can always start the truck even in the bush. You might notice a little less heat out of the heater at -30,as the water pump also slows down ,so it doesn't circulate the same amount of hot coolant threw the heater core. I haven't ran an under drive pulley on this truck, but have ran them on a few other toys over the years, and on my old muscle car toys,i did notice a little less heat output from the heater in the winter, not unlivable, but noticable.

Will look Into this Rick, thanks for the knowledge. Oh and this is the 15% as I forgot to answer that question @WY.Ram

Keep an eye on your local Crappy Tire flyer,Christmas is over,so they should be throwing things on sale big time, and they carry the little Noco GB40 and GB70 jump boxes, lol. I bought the GB70 a few years ago when they had it on sale for 70% off,so it was actually affordable, lol.

The heater is an excellent point I hadn't considered, between the slower pump and a tstat that is 36f lower temp, there might be some chilly times ahead. The 6.4 tstat is a lot work to give my wife another reason to cluck about my non heated seats but her complaining is why I do half the **** I do anyway. Lol. my winter heater definitely something to watch though

With lights and winching always a possibility a jump box is probably always a good idea. I was also considering the bigger alternator, I imagine Mopar parts is proud of that unit and wants enough to cover corporate bonuses for the year. @pacofortacos thanks, Good to know I can turn the auxiliary crap off and the underdrive won't have a negative effect.

Thanks for response OP. I know that takes time, sorry bout that. I'm sitting around twiddling thumbs. Machine shop told me "hoping to be done in a couple weeks." We're on week 5, right now. His hoping is my anxiety. Before I gave him $1000 down he was 3 to 4 weeks out, hmm go figure.

Keep posting, definitely interested in your build.

I did forget to mention, I do have the 3.92 gears. So even at 15% underdrive my alt and water pump are still turning faster than 3.21 geared trucks at highway speed.
But I haven't noticed any ill effects at idle or any lower rpms either.
With your 5.13's, even with 37" tires, I would think that your engine rpms (other than idle) should make up for the few less alt rpms.

15% isn't very much of a reduction.

I do have a question though - the 15% is with the 5.7 damper, are the 5.7 and 6.4 stock dampers the same diameter?
The parts breakdown (online) shows 2 different dampers for the 6.4 - one is the same as the 5.7, the other appears to be a dual belt damper??? Does the 6.4 come with dual belts?

Good info, thanks. Agreed, Im running probably right around 15% higher then stock rpms so it'll be near perfect balance.

On the dual belts, mine is a single belt and I've only seen the damper that was for the 5.7L. I was sure they would be same, so much is. Half the gear I've purchased in the last month says 5.7l on it. I gave out early on the search, I sent out a couple emails to confirm, none replied, So I came here to confirm.

I guess I'm getting at my knowledge on the front system is limited. I can mic the stock damper here shortly and will post results. The only possibility I can think for the 6.4 dual belts is maybe for the dual alternator set up. But I've never seen it and only read very little about it, so Nothing more then expanded search criteria, maybe. Lol

Definitely a single belt damper on my 6.4, I hacked out a measurement of 6 5/16" or 130mm. 130.33mm but my margin of error is well over the .33mm distance. 731d0777617caf2d5d5ad8798eb6dcb8.jpg
