AHH yes relying on electronics at what cost vs a metal stick!!!! after all dip sticks have always been so usless, and people had to go to college to learn how they worked!! IT always amazes me how "old simply functioning" things are tossed for electronic gizmos. Everyone want to look at a screen and just push a button. Just think of the cost savings (to make, install, and repair) just this one item on one car. Multiply that times the number of cars produced a year. And no one can figure out how to keep costs down. Times push buttoms on friges, micro wave, and on and on. Power windows that still require an electric motor, but now also a module so you do not have to hold the button for a half-a-second to lower it, lights on the control so you can see that you just put yor finger there to make it go.
They were talking a few years ago that vehicle might go 24 volt as the weight savings in a vehicle (wiring, switches, etc) could be as much as a 100 plus pounds per car, do to being able to use smaller guage wire, and hardware. Progress isn't it great!!!!
