I picked up a set of used wheels for my Ram but the original owner put the tpms sensors on his new wheels and put stand valve steams in the wheels I bought. This is my first car with tpms so I'm not sure if I can replace them myself. I saw a video where the guy broke the bead and did it himself. Anyone do this before or is it worth paying the shop to do? Thanks.

I paid $60 to have mine done when I bought a new set of take-offs. Even if you did the sensors yourself, the balance of your new tires and wheels will be off.

The nice thing about 2015+ Rams is, as long as you use OEM sensors, no programming is required. Installation is another matter. I've never tried to break the tires down and install myself. My local shops charge $15-20/tire to do so if you don't buy the tires from them. I'd mail order an OEM set of TMPS if you have the time. I've seen them pretty cheap online.

I was going to order the sensors online. For 60 bucks installed it's probably worth it and will save some frustration. I figured it would cost more than that.

For one tire it's not hard to do yourself with a bottle jack and some basic tools. One of the cheap tire kits with plugs can have the valve stem tool to pull the new one into place.

But for all four much easier to take to the shop and have them rebalance your tires while your at it.

That's pretty much the method I saw on YouTube. Like you said, for one it might be worth trying but for 4 I'm going to take it to the shop. Confirmed it was 15 a wheel which surprised me. It seems like they do the same method as they said it shouldn't need a rebalance after.

Most shops will do it while getting a rebalance, plus you know your used set is balanced before you install them.
