You need to tune it,to up the idle rpm Ed.The hellcat pump still won't put more oil on the critical cam lobe and lifter roller, but it doesn't hurt either. The lobe and lifter roller are strictly lubed by the oil flung off the crank as Dodge 1500 stated above.50 psi with either a stock pump or the hellcat pump is still 50 psi,you aren't forcing anymore oil through the passages. My truck idled at 50/51 psi hot and my daily driver 300 idles at 47/48 hot,but both have the idle turned up to 750,so they also throw more oil onto the cam lobes and lifter roller. Both are also on Royal Purple filters and 5W-30 Redline which is a bit thicker then most other 5W-30's

Absolutely, oil psi is just oil psi ... that's all, the higher the oil psi is, doesn't necessarily mean that there is more oil volume.

However, oil volume can be achieved by upping the idle rpms ... that increases oil volume ... yeh, oil psi will increase, but it's the oil pump that's doing the "trick" ...

Ikyk ...

I received Jesse's 8HP bypass and cap, so I'm good to go when I get to that point. My cam, pushrods, TC and WP gaskets, and head gaskets should be here today. My crankshaft seal, pickup tube o-ring and dipstick o-ring arrive Sat, hopefully.

Life has been giving me turds lately, I haven't had any time to do any prep on the truck. Looks like I will have to take a couple days PTO to get her reassembled.

Nervous AF, I am.

If you got it on hand, run it,as you should be changing the first oil change with-in a couple hundred miles anyways, then switch over to 5W-30 and the bigger 20-820 filter.
I think i told you this already, but there is "no" break-in with a roller cam,it's not like the older flat tappet cams that needed a 20 minute break-in at 2500 rpm,as soon as the engine starts,a roller cam is broke in,lol.
I believe it wise to consider the fact that the REST of the engine needs a “break in” period….and that anti-wear additives in Any New engine is a bad idea.
Get it broken-IN before installing snake oils.

Got my cam, head gaskets, push rods, and crank sprocket today, but damn did they play football with the box:

The head gaskets seem ok, they were on the bottom and kraft paper amongst the other stuff, but that cam is way heavy on top of everything else.

Will take a closer look tomorrow, hopefully the 2 o-rings and crank seal will be here on time tomorrow.

UPS

Actually, at my work, we have more problems with FedEx, but usually freight stuff.

Amazon has generally been good here.

When I was dropping off all my fresh parts to where my truck is disassembled, I noticed this on the harmonic balancer.

Is that part of the old crankshaft seal, or is it supposed to be there???

Update:
Nevermind, my parts just arrived right after I posted the question, and the new crankshaft seal does not have that flange, so it must be part of the balancer.

It's there to help protect the seal from external damage, leave it on Ed.

I'm good-to-go, all parts are here, just need coolant, oil, and filters x 2 changes, then my good oil and filter.

Which Red Line 5w-30 is recommended? Looks like they have a euro type??? I may be confused, tho.....lol

just 5w30 redline high performance oil, not the euro one. For hemi we like moly, especially after work we like more zinc, so non euro formula 5w30. 3 times the moly in non euro.

Thanks.

Glad I got the red jug. That sh*t wasn't cheap, $122 for 2 gallons.
yeah it isn't cheap, you can get qrts about a dollar cheaper 0w30 or 5w30. Quarts are cool they all can make a funnel out of them.\

HPL is the same sc 0w30 even more moly.
