Hey guys,

Fogive me if this question has been asked. I tried searching and was unable to find the info I needed. (have read almost all the E-Fan threads)
Just in the process of ordering an E-Fan for the truck. My question is;

For the guys that have done this mod, were you happy with the TYC brand of fan long term? If there are any head aches what were they? Towing, termostat setting etc?
Is it worth the money to buy the OEM fan?

Thank in advance

I probably have 10k miles on my e-fan setup and no issues yet.

My ONLY complaint about the TYC fan is that it's loud. I can't hear it in the cab, but it makes having a conversation in front of the truck with the hood open interesting.

Perfect. Exactly the info I was looking for.
IYO would you spend the money for the OEM fan based on how loud the TYC is?

Depends on how much you're going to spend on the OEM. My TYC was like $80...

Yours is a 15?

Basically all you need is the fan. You'll have to extend your wiring harness though.

On your 2015, you should be fine with just removing your clutch fan. You already have an AC condenser fan that is plenty capable of keeping your motor cool. You just want to wait on this until you have a tuner installed. The tuner will allow you to control what temp the stock AC fan turns on and off.

If you run the TYC or Mopar V6 fan, you will need to extend the wiring harness from the new fan motor to the stock AC fan plug.

OP, I run the Mopar fan on my trucks. It is quieter than the TYC and seems to hold up a little better in the long run. I know about 6-7 guys that have had their TYC fans burn up. Having said that, you could buy 3 TYC fans for the price of 1 Mopar fan. I don't see you going wrong with either unit.

Yes, but you have a secondary fan that's electric. You'd be replacing that one AND the clutch fan with the TYC unit.

This^
You can simply remove the clutch fan and not do anything else. That works. For me though, I wanted to get rid of the HUGE fan cowl from the clutch fan as well, but the factory AC fan doesn't have a cowl. So I bought and installed the TYC.

One day I'm going to upgrade to the Mopar unit. One day...

So what Mopar fan is going to work on a 2014 except for making the wiring longer?? My 2014 only has 2 wires. I bought a Mopar fan and it had 3 wires and in no way would work.

None of the Mopar fans are a direct swap for the 2014+ trucks. Your only option is to extend the wiring harness or just remove the clutch fan and keep the stock AC condenser fan.

It will keep the motor cool in Texas heat alone?

Also how does the factory a/c condenser fan pull efficiently through the fan shroud like the clutch fan does?

Good point. I'll give the TYC one a try.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I have a 2014 Ram and I was told by Matt to remove the stock Fan Clutch assembly.
He told me to leave the stock fan shroud though.
With the fan set to come on at 196 and turn off at 186, it has had zero issues with overheating or anything. With my 180 stat, my truck is always at a cool 180.
There is no need to install a V6 e-fan if you already have OEM quality from the start.

But just for reference, what is the TYC part number for the v6 fan for the 2014 and newer trucks?

OK but what year Mopar fan has the correct wiring to work on a 2014. I don't care about length of wiring just that it has a 2 wire hook up. I'm not interested in just removing my clutch fan and I don't want an aftermarket fan that could take a dump on me out in the middle of the desert.

Granted I am about to do this mod so I have no experiance. I have always thought of this as more about effiecency than adding hp.
Just reducing the loss between hp at the crank and hp at the wheels. no way it nets more than 3-5hp tops..... IMO.

Im not expecting this to be a huge return in the power department. More of adding a piece to the puzzle.
