He might be talking about the 1500, different axle.

I don't know the answer to the question unfortunately - and actually the amount of traction supplied with the factory anti-spin rear in my 4th gen 1500 plus the low speed traction control is impressive enough I don't think I'd bother with a locker even if it was five dollars. I do have a selectable locker in my other 4x4 so I know what I'm "missing" :D

Still, that's me and everyone's needs are different.

Another option if the 5th-to-4th gen locker swap isn't workable; used Power Wagons are a lot of truck for the money, it might be worth the difference to just trade up to a PW if you need a Ram with lockers and get all the other strength upgrades with it.

Just remeber with great power comes horrible fuel mileage. Like 13-14 mpg lol

Completely new axles on the 5th gen 2019 Ram.

Not compatible with 2019 classic or other 4th Gen RAM trucks

That may be a legitimate option.

The '18 1500 4X4 / 5.7 is 14/17/21 (city/average/highway) according to fueleconomy.gov and Motortrend reports 11.6/13.0/15.3 on a PW but I'd imagine the 1500 v. 2500PW numbers would be a little closer together if you made it apples-apples with the same tires. But you make a good case, capability costs.

I get average 14-15 mpg with mostly highway driving. Just put 37x12.5x20 on :)
