Alright Guys! So yesterday I did a whole bunch of driving and didnt get a chance to stop in and do a report. So I'm doing a midday report and will probably not do another detailed one until tomorrow.
Yesterday after I ate an awesome Buffalo burger I headed over to the Machine Shop to pickup the trailer. I impressed the guy who was "helping" me hook every think up. He apparently hasn't seen any truck with auto-load leveling. Should of seen his eyes haha. I backed up and he lowered the trailer onto my truck and it squatted down. He then said to me "We should probably move the attachment so your truck doesn't..." *auto-leveled* Guy was speechless haha. I stopped by a self service weight station and checked my Axle Ratios and where good. Rear was @ 3440 of 3900. Well my truck hauls this 4,100# trailer like it was NOTHING. Can only tell its there when it rattles from a bumpy road. I then drove about 400 miles with it to a little town called Torrington, in Wyoming. I thought it would of been bigger but there was nothing there. I got to town pretty late, late enough I couldn't justify paying for a hotel so I decided to camp out. And by that I mean freeze my ass off in a Walmart parking lot in the next town over, Scottsbluff about 30 miles outside Torrington. I needed to pick up a few things and the place I was picking the farming equipment from was about the same distance from there to where I was at the time so, it worked I guess. I brought down a pillow and a plush throw blanket because I assumed the lower 48 would of been oh I don't know about 60 degrees? no no, it was less then 30 degrees last night so freezing, shivering, at 3am I walk into Walmart and buy a sleeping bag. Wish I just did that hours earlier but I did manage to warm up and get some sleep. For the day I logged 631.6 miles, AMPG 18.5, AMPH 51, & an elapse time of 12 hours 21 minuets.
This morning woke up at 7am went inside walmart and had breakfast consisting of McDonalds... joy... got some gas, and headed out to the farming place. It took just under 5 hours from the time I got there till I drove away. Nothing we did took very long as far as loading up the equipment, just finding okay places to tie it down to, talk about the equipment, talk about whatever else while pondering how to fit a 17ft unit into a 14ft trailer. Lots of disassembly thats how if you were wondering >.< Left there and headed on out. I could tell there was some weight behind me now but I wasnt going very fast to really see how everything was going to handle. Just before I hit the highway I stopped at a transportation station or what ever you want to call them and got everything weighed.
Gross Combined Weight
12,560 of 13,500
Gross Front Axle Weight
3380 of 3900
Gross Rear Axle Weight
4080 of 3900
Gross Trailer Axle Weight
5060 of 15,000
Once again my trucks front and rear MAWR is 3900... Oh poop... 180 pounds over in the rear and I don't even have my buddy and the **** he wants to bring home yet... So I I had to move the potato planter further back and re strap everything down. There went another hour... had the guy test my rear axle again and it is now sitting at 3880. Just under the Safe working load. That'll have to do for now. As I throw some of my buddies stuff in the trailer I'll be sure to but it all in the rear of the trailer to compensate. Well, its safe to say I can now feel my truck being slowed down by this load. I can get up to 65mph no problem! hell even 75! but I cant pass a semi going 65 mph with winds of upwards of 40mph... But my truck is handling the load surprisingly well. Alas my fuel effeciancy has taken a massive beating with the load of the trailer, now with the equipment, while this who time over the past 2 days fighting the wind, not little puffs of wind I mean there are wind advisories in the area for strong powerful winds of up to 50mph and they mean it. So far today I've logged 212.7 miles, 10.5 AMPG, 35 AMPH and a total of 6 hours 1 minuet of drive/idle time. While I was loading the equipment I had to have the truck idle so it could level the load, thats what the manual says to do anyway.
Thus far on the trip I've gone 1196.6 Miles, 11.8 AMPG, AMPH and an elapse time of 24:58 minuets. That's all for now, I'll try and upload some more pictures. If y'all have questions about something I haven't mentioned ask. I cant always remember everything I want to tell y'all or think y'all might want to know when I sit down and write these up.
