Just for compatibility sake and ease of installation i'd go with a 6.4L BGE (Big Gas Engine) out of a HD vs a Car. If you want more power throw a Comp Cam in it while the engines out and make the same power with better heads.
in my opinion the 6.4 truck motor is not any better than the 5.7 its realy close to the same numbers as the 5.7 and mod for mod if you compare it to the 6.4 apache motor the apache motor will make more power and torque as it already does. you can cam the truck motor and change the intake etc and you MIGHT be close to the same numbers as the apache in stock form they say the truck motor is built a little stronger but not enough for high boost. if you get a good deal on the truck motor id say go for it but if your buying one out right then id go with the apache

I’ve seen multiple people say the 6.4 block from the truck is built a lot stronger and the heads are the same material from the hellcat motors. Really the only thing different from a car to truck power numbers would be the cam and intake setup, that’s what changes your power
If your buying a used 6.4 I would buy a challenger motor. 485 FWHP. Truck 6.4 has 410 FWHP. Unless your running 25+ pounds of boost and nitrous, there is no advantage of using the truck block.
6.4 challenger motor has a forged crank. Just have to install forged rods and pistons to make good safe power.
Only Reason i would go with the challenger motor is I am not comfortable swapping cams. i can swap heads, but I don't mess with cams. Lol
Agreed. I just never mastered the art of degreeing cams.Cams are actually easy, especially if the motor is already out. Not too different then other parts that get swapped out. Plus that’s one of the best way to actually improve hp
What are the possibilities of an install of a 6.4 392 in a 1500 ram?? This sounds like an awesome idea to me! Let me hear any difficulties anyone can think of!!
I would assume drivetrain linkage. Probably a lot of fab for mounting
