Too much free time is bad for a man...

So I was thinking, and I noticed my custom tune a performance shop did on my truck after headers were installed now limits the truck to only 4K rpm. Is this ideal for the stock engine to get the most out of it in regards to acceleration, handling, etc? Is it worth while to pursue another shop to get a new tune? Thanks in advance.

Also is there a way to completely tune out the eco mode or does it require parts replacement as well?

Your Hemi will make it's highest HP at 5600 RPM so I think the tune could be a lot better with respects to the obvious rev limit.

I think you need a new tune and get rid of that rev limit.

Some programs can turn off MDS. The combination of a Diablosport programmer, blank PCM and a custom tune from HemiFever would make a real difference in your truck.

You might look at Hemifever's website. He has some pricing listed there.

Ah gotcha, thanks! So I guess I would need to buy a programmer and the tune from hemifever? I also found another shop that does tunes but for 600$ plus tax. Which includes dynoing before and after.

A dyno would be nice, but HF and Jay know these trucks well, and will provide revisions for bolt on upgrades free. Unless they're Mopar centric, I would guess that either tuner can get you more for the money. Plus you'll have a device you can use to monitor things or check codes if needed.

I was told I would need the 300$ tuner from HP tuners on top of the tunes offered. Kinda harsh after I just replaced all my suspension. Whats the chance a fellow member could lend out their MPVi2?

From what I was told, the Jay Greene tunes is what requires the hp tuners programmer. not sure yet on the hemi fever. Looks to be about 400$ for the hemi fever engine and trans tune but how much is their tuner?

I have a few tunes from him. 275 and free updates for anything you want for life minus a CAM or Long Tubes I think... and I'm running the i3. I also have the 2012 though and didn't need a new PCM.

I have tunes from both tuners for my 2012. I use a Diablo Trinity. Jay may now require HP Tuners, but he still sends me revisions for the Trinity. I much prefer Jay these days as HF stopped responding to requests, and Jay has gone way over what I paid for the make sure I'm happy.

I didn’t us hp tuners for the tune, just for the unlocked pcm (I think). he said in order to upload his tunes to the truck I’d need the hp tuners programmer thing.

Oh and do you recommend one over the other? Like hemi fever vs jay greene? I think jays is like 100$ more.

Is that because the hptuners replacement pcm has a proprietary connector? ( I also know next to nothing on programming).

They both do well with their tunes. The only reason I prefer Jay over HF is the support. Like I said, he went above and beyond what I paid for in that realm. Both tunes are strong. I ran about the same. I would say the difference I noticed between them is one is stronger full throttle, balls to the wall, and the other does better with daily driving, but when pushed, they run about the same numbers in my experience. I've had both tunes since 2013, so what I paid is different but I would 100% pay what he charges now given my experience.

Gotcha, thanks for the input! Like I mentioned above Im looking at about 325 for the engine and 270 for the transmission. Is there any way around having to get a 300$ programmer too?

I know of HPtuners, but have no experience with it, so I don't know what device you're needing for the tune. I do know that you can change more than with Diablo.

Is there a way for me to check to ensure I do have the modified tcm and pcm?

Hemifever usually does tunes for a HEMI with the owner having loaded a Diablosport programmer and a unlocked PCM for 2015+ model years.
