2016 crew cab 1500 5.7. Just took my RAM in for what I thought was a fuel injector or lifter noise. Turns out it was exhaust manifold bolts (2 left bank & 3 right bank) were broken.
Is this normal?
What caused it?
Will it happen again?

Thx

This is very normal on our trucks. If you dig through the forums you’ll see endless posts about broken manifold bolts.

What happens is cast iron manifolds tend to warp over time which in turn causes the bolt heads to snap off. It’***** or miss with dealers knowing about this issue.

Something that does help is having the manifolds machined flat again and using stage 8 bolts. Or you can install shorty headers and never have to worry again about it.

If the dealer just simply extracted the broken studs, and reinstalled the manifolds with new oem bolts then yes you will have this exact problem again

JBA shorty headers are imo the best for our truck. They are direct bolt on, just need to finesse the driver side into place.

The reason I find JBA the best is they had D shaped flanges to match the block, unlike other headers that are round. And other companies like BBK have reported fittment issues.

Talk to Matt@Moes-performance he is a supplier on here and is a great guy to talk to and very knowledgeable
