Good afternoon all, Recently got a p208B CEL code pulled on my 2016 Ecodiesel. Looked online and saw some interesting videos about potential solutions to this code that *arent* replace the 600$ def pump, and came across people cleaning the def injector. Went down under the truck to take a look and discovered there was def plastered across my frame and that the def feed line was actually not connected to the injector at all, it had slid off. (also discovered i had an exhaust leak directly above that, two bolts totally F*cked that need to be removed and a broken in half seal hanging free, gotta fix that too.)
* So, i took the injector off anyway, luckily the electrical part that connects to it wasnt heat fried from the exhaust leak, came right off. Used an 4mm allen wrench to get the bracked off, took the injector off. It was completely crystallized over with def, so i took the hot water bottle, spritzed it and cleaned it down with a tooth brush. Cleaned the mounting port it connects to as well. I noticed that there was a cracked "O-Ring seal" piece on the floor where i took the injector off. So, here are my questions -
1.) On this image
Does this O-Ring seal that i bought from harbor freight go above the lip, or below the lip? Does it even go here at all? The feed line, when pressed down over the lip without a seal, makes a clicking noise like its good to go, but can then be removed by pulling with very little effort. Im guessing this isnt supposed to be the case because its a pressurized line? Im thinking i need to bite the bullet and buy a new oem feed line (nobody likes spending $180+ bucks). If i do buy a new line, will it come with the seal? Also, i did test the injector with a multimeter and it came out good. Anyones thoughts and opinions would be nice.

The O-ring should sit in the groove of the injector port, sealing the pressurized DEF line. If the line clicks but pulls off easily, the seal isn’t working. OEM O-rings are recommended, as Harbor Freight ones often fail. A new OEM feed line usually comes with the O-ring, so replacing the line should fix the loose connection and likely resolve the P208B code.
