14 mags are good, anything magniflow. If you are planning on long tubes it is the only way to go... As a cheaper muffler like flowmaster/cherry bomb etc doesn't "muffler" the sound. There will be too much air going through too fast and the design won't actually do anything. Not to mention magniflow use a sound deadning material inside their mufflers to make the sound go out the back and not bleed out. I had true duel cherry bomb extremes on my truck. No long tubes, and it sounded amazing. Didn't drone at all. Then I put on long tubes, there was so much air going through, even with a newly added x pipe at the same time it sounded like it was dumped out of the headers the sound was bleeding out so bad instead of going out the back. I mean at 60mph you could turn the radio up to full blast along with the A/C and you could still hear the drone. Two mag 14s later and it almost got too quite... LOL

Look up Jchaney579 on youtube. I have all my exhaust setups from beginning to end for you.

too quiet with 14" mags? interesting..... are you more into louder exhaust systems, or a bit more mellow ones? just trying to gauge your likes vs mine to decide

i heard your latest one with the dual magnaflow 14s and x pipe and it didnt sound different enough from my y pipe and single 14" magnaflow to make me want to change to that theres just a certain more aggressive not neccessary louder tone that im wanting.

yeah i got the arh y pip and high flow cats

im surprised because we have the same set up then and mine is silent when cruisins like completely silent to where you can turn the radio off and not hear the exhaust. i wouldnt reccommend the 24" though i had it on before the 14" and at idle wot and cruising it was as if i had a bone stock truck there was no noise to it at all....im still leaning towards the borla xr1 or i might copy one of my crew members set up and go with no cats x pipe and dual dynomax bullets since i dont drive the truck much anyways...

heres what that sounds like on a friends cammed 3rd gen

oh man that truck is awesome.... just oozes power!! that is an aggressive sound! i see what sound you're going for.

i guess i'm getting old and want it a little quieter most of the time which is why i lean towards the 24", but occasionally i feel for a loud exhaust. i'm hoping a 24" mag with my ecutout would be the fix i need for both.

Yea that truck is awesome too bad he had so many trans problems after the 420 stroker swap because that truck would have seen 10s no problem yes that's the kind of intimidating sound I'm after....oh the ecutout is awesome i have mine right after my y pipe and as soon as i open it up and give it gas it screams and when you go wot with it man its awesome!!!

have another question i know everyone has said that 2.5" exhaust will be enough for what the truck will be flowing but most of the exhaust places around town do not have the machines to mandrel bend the pipes so getting 2.5" will actually be flowing less wont it?

I meant to order an 18" for my truck and screwed up and ordered a 14" Mufflex. I think I can live with it, but for a DD, I like to hear a V8, but I don't want it intrusive. Yes, if they're not mandrel bent, they'll restrict the flow at the bend. Too big and the gases will bounce around in the pipe and cause back pressure too.

Now, for my G8, I plan on going long tubes with HF cats and Corsa mufflers. MAN do they sound GOOD! Tell me that's not amazing...

1400 bucks FOR AXLE BACKS!!!!! That doesn't include the headers 800 bucks and cat back 500 bucks...

They claim NO drone and they ARE one of the best built.

IMO, you get what you pay for, but you're right... It's NUTS expensive.

That's what I was actually thinking. Find a muffler you like the sound of and buy it and build it.

I got the Corsa Catback (#24405 if I remember right) for my Crew Cab truck...with coupon thru autoanything it was right at $630. Not cheap yet by any means but definitely not $1400 and I love the sound and there is NO drone.

Muffler of your choice on oem Pipes, jazzed up with a Tip if you want...cant go wrong. Mandrel bends dont make enough of an impact to justify the cost, and OEM pressbent pipe is a lot better these days than they were 10 years ago.

flowmaster sounds horrible to me once you take of catalytic converters and have headers and they dont flow very well either. if i was just replacing a muffler i maybe would go with it but i need something that is going to work for me in the long run after a cam swap and nitrous

Funny how opinions differ. True dual Flowmaster 40's with long tube headers and no cats on a big block is my favorite sounding exhaust. I love the chambered sound on a high horsepower big cammed engine. I used to love the old days of NMCA races when they had to run full exhaust instead of the collector mufflers. Never heard that setup on our Hemi though. With that said, I have the 14" Magnaflow on my truck as well, it's perfect for a daily driver, but you're right it's not very aggressive. Interesting to hear the LT's and HF cats calmed it down.

oh for sure the oem pipes are good but i am going with an x pipe instead of a y pipe so that leaves me with having to come up with good 2.5 inch pipe that is bent nicely before the muffler or else it wont flow correctly and then after that i think the oem pipe is 3" isnt it? so not sure if that affects it much either going from a smaller diameter to a larger one which is why i was just going to replace it all

i love the sound on older motors my brothers 82 chevy c-10 with a cammed 454 no cats and dual flowmaster sounds awesome but for some reason on these newer ones i just dont like it after the cats are removed and well i am trying to get as much out of this truck as i can so any little bit helps and the flowmasters have shown that they dont flow very well at all

Have you looked at the magnaflow x-pipe muffler in one? I know guys that love them on their G8's.
