Yes i know another exhaust thread but I can't seem to find anything on quality and performance. So here's my question, what exhaust has the best performance and which exhaust has the best quality. I was looking at mbrp, flowmaster or magnaflow if there's any other exhaust that performs for a decent price let me know and as far as sound I'd like a nice rumble idling and a deep sound when i step on it, I'm looking for a catback. thanks!

If I was going to drop the money on a full cat back system it would be from Stainless Works. Great quality and craftsmanship. Awesome sound.
personally dont have the extra cash to discard the majority of the stock system when its already a decent stainless steel setup.
I have been debating on mufflers.... think I have decided to go with a Pypes "violator" direct fit kit. Going to TIG the 3 pipe extensions on and use band style clams to connect to factory pipes so basically setup like a mufflex style muffler.

I have the Stainless Works exhaust and love it...had the JBA prior to that and it wasn't bad either. The JBA is a lot cheaper, but so is the quality/material.

For catbacks, I always go stainless systems. For the cheaper $$ wise systems that are good, Stainless Werks, Magnaflow, MBRP, Solo, all great kits. Wanna spend more?? Corsa, Borla.

I'm assuming swapping the muffler would give the same performance and sound gains as a full cat back as that's the majority of the change correct?

The performance wouldn't match up 100% with just a muffler swap, but pretty damn close. It depends if you want the single-in/dual-out setup or not. Some companies have a X-pipe middle section or a dual-in/dual-out muffler to tips setup. I'm under the impression that, compared to single 3" middle section, dual pipes from the cats is worse for performance until you start replacing internal engine parts for heavier airflow (turbo, charger, cam, headers, etc).

I don't like the idea of cutting and welding a muffler and extra pipes in there but I might give it a try I could always get a catback if I'm unhappy with it, now to pick a muffler.

I've also heard that the stock Y pipes on our trucks are worth replacing? Anyone with any advice on those?

The Y pipe on these trucks are definitely garbage. I have a sport which has a decent stock stainless steel exhaust yet the Y pipe was basically crushed aluminum. I purchased the Magnaflow Y pipe on amazon for $30.

Picking an exhaust has to be the hardest truck part to choose, there are so many different components to take into consideration and so much competition.

If you go with a mufflex, flomaster, or pypes... no cutting or welding just remove old muffler and install new one...direct fit!

What would be the best muffler to go with for performance? I'm getting an intake and a tune so i want a muffler that flows.

Here the noise and flow rate on pypes mufflers. Have to do your own research on others but believe the mufflex are all straight threw.

I love my borla exhaust. It sounds great, and is as good of quality as any catback system or better. It is expensive but well worth the money to me!!

If you want performance. Stay away from Flowmaster. They sound good but don't flow very well.

the mufflex kits use a magnaflow muffler that's like a turbo style muffler.

I've heard a lot of bad things about mufflex leaking though, is that true or just poor installation?
