I purchased the Ram extended warranty but haven’t needed it yet. 2015 Sport Heim at 47K Miles. In TN it’s a law if I buy the warranty and don’t use it I can request a refund just before it expires. You can also get a prorated warranty refund through MyWarrantyRefund.com . I sold my car recently and they got me a refund on my purchased service contract, wheel and tire warranty too.

Contact Clay Robbins at Robbins Motors. I just bought a 2014 Ram 2500 and priced out the Mopar warranty from the dealer I bought it from and 3 online dealers that sell the warranty and Clay was the cheapest by far. $3075 for the Lifetime Maximum Care with $100 deductible and 18 month 0% financing with 10% down. I bought a 5-yr./70,000 extended warranty on a '13 1500 when I bought the new truck. It cost about $1800.00. I asked speciically if the extended warranty worked just the same way as the original warranty and I was told "yes." The door locks started doing weird things when the truck was just out of the original warranty. I took it in and they could not replicate the problem. That's when I found out that every service visit brings with it a $100.00 deductible. It cost me $60.00 to be told that they could not find anything. If you possibly can do it, keep the vehicle three years and trade it. Low mileage trucks bring a premium on the trade-in, too.

The preference for an extended warranty depends upon how well the truck is equipped. If there is no OEM sunroof or integrated navigation system, both of which are expensive to replace, then going without the service contract may be worthwhile, provided you set aside enough money on your own for the eventual repairs. Aftermarket warranties are usually a pain, and are very limited when compared with the coverage of the Chrysler extended warranty. One thing about the Chrysler contract is that the (prorated) unused balance is refunded if the vehicle is sold/traded.

With the price increase looming tomorrow, Im calling around right now.

Unfortunately no one really knows how much (if any) it will go up for my RAM in particular. Only have 3500 miles on it, havent had many real issues but would need lifetime MaxCare, if anything (I keep my vehicles a long time but dont put many miles on them....the 8/100K plan would be wasted since Id probably only have 50K on my truck after 8 years)

Any idea how much the increase will be? If its going to be a couple hundred bux it might not be worth rushing into.

I hear that the price increase will be 3% but you missed it as it went into effect 4/1

Ziegler says tomorrow (over the phone and on their site)

But 3% isn't a HUGE deal.

On mine it would have been around $90. Did you use the coupon code (DPACIFICA) ? saved ME $365.

125K is probably overkill but it will sound great if I need to sell the truck..

Just tried the code and it did save me a good chunk, thanks!

Still wavering, though. Figure I drive my truck 6K miles/yr, after 8 years Ill have almost 50K on it. I know they offer an 8yr/70K plan which isnt TOO far off from my mileage, but do I want coverage longer than 8 years is the question.

I don't know when that code expires.....

Just went for the lifetime. Not really worried about transfer ability because the truck should be with me for a long enough time.

60 day full refund period so I can at least see what this price increase is all about. if its not that big a deal I might consider getting the refund and figuring it all out later.

That code still worked and did save me $365, bringing the lifetime MaxCare with 100.00 deductible down to $2665.

I got a 4 year 45k warranty when I refinanced my truck at 80k miles for 2k$. 10k miles later my transfer case needs to be replaced and water pump as well. 1500 at my local shop . All I had to pay was fluids which ended up around 100 out of pocket. I'd say it's pretty much almost paid itself already. And I just got it.

Yeah, Im just hedging my bets that something will happen at some point. Maybe everything works great forever...I doubt it, but it could happen. But by the time I get rid of this truck, Ill probably have long forgotten the $$ I spent for this warranty.

If, OTOH, stuff does go wrong after 3 (or 5) yrs, Ill surely remember the day I spent the money...in a good way, though.

My dad told me to look at what I fixed/replaced on my old truck (2001 Frontier). NONE of it is covered by the MaxCare warranty, because it was literally just all wear items. Brakes, rotors, calipers, timing belt, spark plugs, etc.

BUT that was a 2001 Frontier: Nissan reliability and electronic NOTHING (4 speed auto, manual shift 4WD, no bluetooth, touch screen, parking sensors cameras, etc).

SOOO much nice stuff on my Big Horn, but all pretty expensive if it ever needs to be fixed and Im slowly realizing I dont have the time or patience to do it myself anymore, which means Id have to pay someone if it ever needed to be done.

FYI it looks like the increase was about 3% (lifetime, 100.00 deductible for my '17 RAM went from 3030 to 3110)

Coupon code is still working, though.

I have a 2015 1500 Sport. It's on a 3 year lease that's about ready to be up in July. It's got low miles (due in part to the lease) and my buy out is low so I'm going to keep it. For the last few months I've been getting emails from Chrysler about purchasing extended warranties. It was nice having a vehicle the last few years that was covered so I was thinking about getting the extended through Chrysler. Only thing I'm not sure it's worth it. A lot of the time most of these warranties are nothing but a big hassle or they don't even cover it at all. Just wondered if anyone here has one of these warranties and is it worth it? Thanks.

As member zogg posted..."lifetime usually runs out due to vehicle age".....
Is this true?
How old does the vehicle have to be for it to run out?
Does it lose certain coverage after a certain amount t of time?
