Are these compatible? I run 20s in the summer and when I switch to my old winters (265/70/17), the speedo is thrown off by quite a bit. I figured if I ran wintere in 285/70/17, the difference will be minimal.

At 75 mph you will be off by as much as 5 mph...I’m in the process of correcting my gauge because it was off when I went up in tire size....if you check it by GPS speed and remember that then do on the fly corrections to your speed you’ll be fine. The only drawback and my largest concern was mileage and fuel mileage tracking, it will either make it better or worse lol

Getting back to my original question, would those 285/70/17 tires mount on standard 17" mopar steelies? Or do I need to get rebel wheel?

You'll find that a 285/70/17 usually specifies a minimum of a 7.5" wide rim, I think the steel rims are 7"(measured inside the bead).

With that being said, there are a lot of people that run 285/70/17s on a 7" rim with no issues. I looked into possibly going to the 285s when my 265s wear out. I'd do a chalk test to set the air pressure and not worry about it.

You can adjust your tire size through AlfaOBD. It’s quick and easy. You can either manually put in your own Size. Or use a pre defined value. Would be easy to make the changes on the fly.
