Shows how much confidence they have in there own design. Are the newer versions of this engine any more reliable? I replaced mine at 129k. The dealer didn't even ask if I wanted to pay the $12k for a new engine from RAM. I went for a rebuild. It's funny how I only leaned about the lifter problem once I experienced it and asked questions. You should see the look on other owners faces when they hear about the time bomb under their hood.
If I had known about the cam/lifter /MDS issues before I bought my 2018 Ram big horn 5.7 I probably would have passed the truck up... But I do love the truck just worried how long it will be before Mine eats the cam and lifters.. I drive it in manual ALL the time so hope that will save me that MDS frustration..

I know that anyone that it has happened to is very frustrating, it would be for me and I'm a Mopar fanatic! The percentage rate is still very low but if it happens to you the percentage rate is 100 percent. Just do your best at servicing and hope for the best. I know that doesn't help but that's what I do. 1 2012 Hemi with 140,000 miles and 1 2012 Hemi with 216,000 miles with no problems.

All of the above why, when just before I hit 3 year mark (My 2019 is a early truck, built Apr 2018/bought Aug 2018). I bought "added" (8/75,000 warranty), but as all know, warranty start goes back to date U possessed truck, so really only 5 years. Guess I am lucky, got a decent dealership.

ADDED: U could try and talk to a "Civil" lawyer, but if nothing in writing, and U went out of warranty, and to a 3rd party, OMG, U got a fight on yer hands. Good luck on all those issues.

I think that stealership is playing the system for awhile in not doing warranty work for less pay

When I was a mechanic back in 1969 warranty work and customer pay was different but in about 1974 it was changed to identical pay wise. There used to be a difference but not anymore.. I would get 6 hours for a warranty transmission overhaul and 12 hours for customer pay but they changed that about 1974 and warranty and customer pay was the same charge which meant I got 6 hours for either one.

All vehicles have their issues. Keep in mind that most hemi engines live happily to 200000 miles.

Its literally a weekend job to fix the issue. Do it before it fails.

Absolutely correct!!!
All depends on how many issues though. Some more than others,...which does suck.
