Filter to stop water spotting?

I've tried compressed air but I need a filter to pull out the moisture since it takes so long. I have waffle weave towels, they do "ok" but I think the best is one of them synthetic shammy things and wax as you dry. Problem is any towel method leaves water behind badging, trim, mirrors and so on. I'm seriously looking into a CR system since I can rinse in my garage, dry by shammy/towel and blow out the emblems and such.

this might sound crazy but try lubricating the paint to dry it. I know it doesn't sound right, but after your truck has been fully washed and is still wet, stray it with quick detailed as you dry. then go back and buff energy thing off. saves me a little time and I get better results.

I live in Texas too, don't know how FT Worth water differs from the Rio Grande but I don't have THAT much of a hard time.

I make sure my truck is in the shade for a good amount of time before I get started, the hot sheet metal makes it a pain in the a** to keep water spots off of.

After the wash, I do a quick wipe down with a microfiber and as it soaks the water the dampness of the cloth helps keep the spotting to a minimum.

Then blast it with my air compressor along the mirrors, door handles etc etc for the water that stays trapped in there.

Then a final pass with Maguire's Quick Detailer. NO SPOTS on my truck

If you are using a regular M/Fiber towel to dry you vehicle with, then I highly recommend using this from Adam's: Microfiber Drying Towel | White Microfiber Towels

However I prefer the Great White because you can soak up much more water. Spendy? Yes sure is. But if properly taken care of, you will get many many vehicles dried with it.

I have also found that when drying your vehicle or using Adam's Detail spray to clean off light dust, don't use the towel and go in circles ~ fold the towel so you have four squares. Then, using the hood as an example, start at the top and "lightly" pull it in one direction ~ towards the front of the car. Do this on all areas of the vehicle. This way you won't end up with light swirl marks by going in circles with the towel. When you see one side of the towel is getting dirty, change over to the next square ~ keep working it that way. Then, after you've dried the entire vehicle, take a clean M/Fiber towel and lightly go back over the vehicle.

Common sense tells us that we indeed need towels while detailing. However, over the years, I've found that the best way to keep a great shine is to avoid touching the paint only if you absolutely need to. It also goes without saying that if you drop a clay bar, "trash can it." Same is applicable with any M/Fiber towel. No don't trash can it, just get a clean one. You may never see that one extremely small rock or piece of metal that is on your shop floor but you will quickly notice it as it puts heavy swirls or scratches in the clear coat.

When using Detail Spray in the drying process, after you are completely finished and you notice light streaks, that is probably where the DS dried to quick. All you have to do is give that area another shot of the DS, wipe it off with a M/F towel and it will be gone.

Have to totally agree. Adam's produces some fantastic products and I like his 110% warranty on everything he sells. I found out that that is so true because I ordered five or six bottles when we had that cold spell. Didn't see the box on the front porch and all six bottle froze. Not Adam's fault, UPS screwed up again. However Adam sent me all new bottles, no questions asked.

Some will say that he sells his products way to high. That may or may not be true ~ depends on how you view it. But I'd rather pay a higher price knowing that "everything" he sells in made in the U.S.A.

As you know, Adam sells products by the Gallons. And believe me, I have a few gallons of his Detail Spray. It's kind of like an all purpose shiner that you don't want to find that you are out of it.

our water is so hard it'll clog a drain with calcium after a few months of water dripping in it. I've found using a chamois(sp?), followed by quick detailer works well. From my white truck to my black mustang, that system has been working for me.

Yep, the only products of theirs I have used has been polishes, pads and PC accesories, which were all very effective. And I have huge amounts if respect for being 100% USA. Considering they dropped one of their best selling polishers (Porter Cable) because it wasn't made in the US anymore. It's those kinda things that separate a good company from an outgoing company. Also, glad to hear they sent ya new products, their customer service is great. Nick from Adams has answered about 1000 questions for me. And on the price... I don't think it's too bad. I am pretty tight, but I am okay with their prices. You get what you pay for, and I like to pay for quality. Especially when it comes to my truck lol.

And about that gallon detail spray.... It's a smart idea. Helps save money in the long run. Especially when half of your tires stick outside the fenders and you need to wipe down your truck every few days. I did come across a product recently that I think I am going to pick up. Basically a lifetime supply of Quick Wax... For 100 bucks you can make 26s gallons!

I appreciate all of the input here, but I guess I'll have to start washing at a ridiculously early hour of the morning or once It gets dark in the evening. Otherwise, the truck is just too hot for blowers, towels, detailers or anything else to work because it dries too fast.

I learned a great tip from the Adams videos. After I rinse and before I dry I do a final rinse with and open hose (no nozzle), the water sheets off rather than beading and makes drying much easier.

My water comes from a well. Needless to say, it will put water spots on a vehicle in no time at all. So go here and start reading.

I bought a system that is a tank, on wheels that you hook-up to a garden hose. This tank is full of small crystals. I received a re-fill package when I placed my order. Would go out to the shop and get you the name of this system but a bad day and in my wheel-chair.

I paid around $300.00 for it. However you can get basically the same thing only it's a small filter that hooks up directly to your garden hose with an attachment on the other end to add on more hose. Those are fairly cheap and you might find one on Google.

In order to minimuze getting water spots on your truck, take a foam gun or a lot of soap when doing a two bucket wash. Let the foam/soap sit for a minute then wash from the top down. When you go to rinse, I use Adam's detail spray while drying. Absolutely no water spots when I am done plus you have a nice shine from the detail spray. Make sure you get the windows too.

Oh man we all missed the important detail here. Are you ok? I have my cane days myself. A motorcycle accident of sorts. Last disc in my back is compressed and my right hip will just decide some morning just to not work at all. Nothing is bad enough to really work on/surgery. I just have to deal with it and well I'll be 40 this year too.....It's funny because the more I exercise the better, but it sucks when you can't hardly move and the recipe to get better for me is to get up out of bed and start moving around. My wife is the slave driver too. She's like alright! Let's go walking!
