I used a 15/16 socket on the oil filter and it seemed like the right size. I want to get a swivel socket and am wondering if that is the correct size. Also, it seemed that both 13mm and 1/2" sockets fit equally well on the oil drain plug. Since hose clamps must be loosened, I found 8mm seems to be the right size.
I read that it may be possible to remove the oil filter without removing the cover. That's my goal for the next change.
Oil: Valvolene Full Synthetic. Filter: K&N PS-7026. Milage: 3,862. Previously towed a car on dolly over 1,700 miles so early oil change was in order.

13mm and 1/2" are functionally interchangeable and if the 15/16" fits snug than *** with it, chances are the "actual size" is listed as 24mm.
I don't get why you think you should have changed to oil early because of towing something on a car dolly, you just shy of 4K miles. Now that your running a full synthetic if you change the oil before 7500 miles your wasting your money.

1/2" is 12.5mm
15/16 is pretty much the same as 24mm
8mm is 5/16
