Hey everyone. I'm looking to change my rear diff fluid, trans fluid, & brake fluid as it has never been done since it was new & currently has 126k on the clock.

I've heard of some transmissions breaking after a trans flush & fill in other trucks, is that a problem with ours? ('97 5.9L auto)

I plan on taking it to a shop to have the trans flushed at the same time as the brake system flushed. I figured I can do the rear diff by myself at home.

What fluid would you recommend to do the rear diff change with? Also should I get new gaskets when I change it?

Well the problem with a fluid flush is any crap that has become lodged in the trans or in the lines or cooler will get loose and could potentially cause a premature failure. So usually we don't recommend a flush. Just a fluid filter change. For the diff I believe that your manual will say the exact specs. But I used Mobil 1 Full synthetic in my manuals recommended weight.
