Hoping someone has an answer to this dilemma with our 2019 Ram 3500. Planning a kayaking trip soon where we will off load our personal kayaks and let the kayaking service drive my truck to the downstream location, so when we finish our paddle the truck will be there. Did this in the past with my Ford F150 and there was no problems as it had the keyless entry, so they just locked the keys in the truck with no issues. I have tried to figure out how I can do this with this Ram. So far the only method that has sort of accomplished what I need would have the driver wrap the FOB in foil so he can lock the truck. That way when I we arrive I can use the FOB's built in key to unlock the driver truck. There's nothing in the owner's manual that I can found that covers this situation. Looking to see if anybody knows if there's a better procedure to do this??

When fishing and buddies forget something, I have them leave the fob inside the gas door. If you’re not comfortable with that, tell the transport guy to take the key back to the office and you’ll pick it up after.

These new electronic trucks can be a pain in the butt. You could do what we have done for years....we take one of those refrigerator magnets with a hook on it for keys....we stick the magnet under a designated fender....bumper....place...etc....and just lock the truck and hang the keys on the hook. Been doing this for years when fishing various rivers. Have fun on your trip!

Why not just manually push the lock down?

Many of the higher trim level trucks are equipped with the Fobik safe feature which prevents you from inadvertently locking your keys in your truck. His truck would unlock itself even if he manually pressed the lock lever as soon as he closed the door. He's trying to figure out how to purposely lock a spare key in his truck.
