When it's raining, I have a parking sensor that goes nuts anytime I drop below 5mph. When it's dry, it doesn't make a sound unkess I'm close to something.

Short in the wire? I'm at 35,500 miles, warranty?

Thanks.

Same problem here. Dealer "could not reproduce." Interested in others' experiences.

I have it too, assuming just a raindrop rolling down... I don't think the sensors work above a certain mph, just don't know what it is and my owners manual is outside..

Hi brianw0048,

If you decide to visit your Ram dealership for further diagnosis, let us know! We're happy to reach out on your behalf. The sensor would be covered under the 3/36 basic warranty.

I got a 17 on lease back in July and my front left sensors have started doing that. It's rained before now and they didn't do it then which is why I think it's a wiring issue.

Hey Kori

New member here and just signed up for this very same problem on my 2017 Laramie Sport. Funny thing is the shop ran diagnostics and found previous error codes. End result was told unless it happens in the shop there's nothing they can do. As you can imagine major disappointment. Only 28000km on it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The front sensors are very good at finding anything other than a vehicle in front of the truck.

I have had the truck 6 days and it has been like this since the first day.

Been easier to just turn the switch off.

Interested if this is the same for all our trucks.

Thanks

Wil

Unfortunately this is the same on most trucks. Bottom line is these are ****** sensors. I've had parking sensors on previous cars that ran fine with rain, snow, dirt on them. The RAM though, they squawk if there's a little dust in the air. During the winter they were basically useless because of a little ice on them. I've read many threads here about this so it's a VERY common issue

This is quite simple. I had this problem a few months ago, but they froze over a little bit and I did not clean the ice off in its entirety so it kept going off when they are activated as you said, under 7mph I believe it is. But read what you said. When it rains they go crazy, when it doesnt they dont. See a pattern? Theres no barrier around them so if they get wet and it settles on the sensor without it completely running off and no way to dry, its going to engage. Dont worry about it.

You're right, there's nothing to worry about. However, it doesn't change the fact that these are ****** sensors! Like I said, I've had parking sensors on my car since about 2008 - had an Audi A6, A BMW 530 and a Caddy CTS - NEVER had this issue and those cars were certainly driven in the rain and snow!

I have this same problem. It seems like it only happens when I use the brakes. I'm thinking a drop of water goes across it and causes the problems. It's really bad after a car wash. I just deal with it because I think it's a design flaw and not something that could be fixed as replacing the part would just have the same result.

I have had my 2017 ram 1500 in twice before and both times tech could not recreate issue. My front pass sensor goes off in the rain when coming to a stop or taking off from a stop. I have taken videos of when it happens and sent them to the tech at the dealership since I am under warranty. Currently my truck is at the dealership since my battery went out, under 3 years old, and the sensor still has the same issue.

The first two times I brought it in they said the sensor had low connectivity. I have told them I will not take the truck back until at least the sensor is replaced. They have told me they cannot replace it until they recreate the issue in the shop. Hopefully it rains soon.

My belief is if the sensor is dirty, it rains, then sets the sensor off why is it only one of my sensors. I would think at least both front sensors will go off when driving forward and both back go off when backing up if the sensors were dirty and or wet.

I am a technician at a local dealership here I think that I have the answer for you. Remove your parking sensors and make sure that the little white Overing that’s inside that goes around the head of the sensor is not rolled over. Make sure that it is clean and there’s nothing inside the bracket that holds the sensor to the bumper that should take care of your problem

I forgot I posted in this thread.

But my rear sensors never work when it rains or they get wet. I bought new ones on amazon they still have the same problem.

Not sure what else it could. Works fine once it drys out.

Front passenger side sensor goes off occasionally when it’s raining.

I assume only remedy is just to get new sensor?

This is odd to hear. My 2018 1500 has never had these issues. BUT, below 7MPH when it's very snowy/icy a message pops up on the screen and says "Front Parking Sensors Disabled, wipe front sensors" So i don't get false alarms, mine simply shuts them off. Must have been a change on the 18?

Same story with my 18.

Sounds like Ram addressed the issue and gave a message on the EVIC instead of letting it go haywire and having people bring the truck into the dealer.

Mine's a 2017 and it just disables them as well. Later production 2017 though so may have been an update done mid year. They pretty much don't work all winter and sometimes they don't work in the summer if a larger bug gets stuck on the front. I usually leave them switched off anyways, but they still chime to tell me they're disabled so they never cease to be a nuisance to me.
