hey guys.

I’m looking to put a front hitch on my ram 3500 and carry a Motorcycle. The Moto is around 380 pounds. The hitch I was looking at is a e front-mounted EcoHitch rated for 700 pounds. I was wondering if any body know the front tonge whieght is on the truck. I tried searching the internet but could not find any information. Thanks for any help!

I don't think there is an actual spec. What is going to be your limiting factor is front GAWR. Front empty weight is about 5200. Check your door tag and that will give you a starting point. Remember if you use an equaliser hitch you can increase the axle weight which will decrease the load you can add.

Personally I wouldn't go over 500lb but don't have experience with that amount of weight either.

^^^ What he said, you just need to make sure you do not exceed your front axle Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).

Aside from the axle weight, you need to be sure you are transferring the weight to the truck's frame adequately/properly. I'm not sure how front hitches are even attached. This is a great question and a largely non-explored territory.

To know how much weight you could put off the front of the truck is to load the truck and trailer up and weigh it at a CAT scale for semi trucks. It will give you a per axle weight that you can see what your GAW(s), GVW and GCW actually are.

On my Dakota 19 years ago, and my 1500 now, the front hitches are bolted to the front frame. 4 bolts. That's the basic design for all the front hitches I looked at.

I just quickly looked at snow plows that are attached to 3500s, and many of them are 700lbs+ A few I found were over 1000lbs. So as long as you have the proper setup, the RAM can handle the weight up front.
