Hey all,
I just mounted a Steelcraft front bumper on my 2014 Ram 2500 diesel and afterwards got to thinking, will this significantly increase my front suspension wear and tear? Should I upgrade my suspension or not worry about it.
It's around 300 pounds added weight.
Any input is appreciated!

Increase wear, yes. Significant, meh? When things wear out it would be a good idea to replace them with heavy duty versions but I wouldn't start throwing away good parts for no reason.

I see you are from Shelton, but WHICH Shelton?

Its a ram truck, I'm pretty sure they designed these things with the though that our significant other resembles Mama booboo, so I wouldn't worry about it

(All kidding aside, you got a 2500 with a diesel engine, if it cant handle a few hundred extra pounds on the nose it probably shouldn't be on the road to begin with)

Drive it and see how much the extra weight cantilevered out there adds to the "bounciness" and then you'll have a good idea. What I think you'll find with a diesel equipped 2500 is it will not be something you notice *unless* things are already close to being clapped out.

Thanks for the input! It still drives nice, can't tell it's on there so I won't worry about it

Not sure how much things have changed but back in '97 when I ordered a '98 2500 with the cummins 12 valve the dealer straight out told me not to plan on hanging a snow plow on it because of the added weight on the front end, if I remember correctly they said a snow plow installation was definitely NOT recommended in the factory manual.

On the cummins you have a solid axle unless I am mistaken so you should be good. I have had something similar on my 1500 for 15 years w/o issue, and you should even be better off in theory. If you have ball joints fail early, you may want upper control arm upgrade with serviceable balls. Look at kryptonites if they have one for your truck, I dunno, but you see adjustable and/or greasable. I think the kryptos are good because you can easily replace ball joints

Why people love king pin front axles if you ever find one store it or put it in your truck.
