That price seems ungodly high. I can check around here and see if there is any known bad juju with the axles. I certainly do not know of anything.

As a basline, I paid around $600 in labor for each axle on my '00 Ram 1500.
So almost $6k is ungodly high.

Come to think of it i think the carrier is different when you go up to that high of a gear. I know it's is on the 9.25 but I'm not sure about the 10.5. I'll have to try and check at work tomorrow night.

Thanks guys, they priced it high so they won't have to do it, I can purchase all the ring &pinion with install kits from moes, and the carrier stays the same, Randy's ring &pinion said they could do it for 600a rear axle, 800 for the front, but they are in another state, time off work and gas cost put that out of reach, need someone in Minnesota

Parts are only about 800, cheaper if they save bearings, truck has 4000
miles, locals tell me it can't be done Randy's says it can,

How do you know the carrier stays the same? If I remember right it is cast right in the side the gears that will work with the carrier and I believe it is from 3.08 to 3.73, from there up the carrier is a different thickness because the ring hear is a little bit thicker or thinner. It can be compensated for with the spanner nuts to take up the difference but if one doesn't have enough thread engagement your screwed at that point.
Honestly the hardest part is getting the crush sleeve to start to crush on the 9.25. The rest is almost considered easy. Unless you save the bearings that is.

AAM said it is the same carrier, also the 2013 power wagon has the same axles from the factory with 456 gears

Out of curiosity where in AAM did you call? The power Wagon has the 11.5" rear axle just a fyi. You have a 10.5. I have to try and find a power Wagon front tonight. I know we have rears but the fronts are a little harder to come by.

I stand corrected. Apparently what I said was true but only for certain model years. The diff case must still have the casting on them from then. I guess Mexico can't update theirs casts.
