I just got a 2007 Ram 2500 5.9L and I ordered a Diablo tuner for it but my question is how much will a cold air intake affect the air/fuel mixture and is there a limitation to the type of maps that are used with programmers/chip? I use to have a Subaru WRX and with the maps from the programmers/chips, it was not recommeded to install a cold air intake without having a custom map designed for the engine modifications of the vehicle. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Its not a problem, especially for the diesels. The 5.9 accepts mods so well that you could even add a bigger turbo and injectors with your current tuner and it wouldnt faze it.

Yup...wont have a problem. Just remember one thing, most mods for a diesel need supporting mods. For example... You add bigger injectors, you need a bigger fuel pump to supply the fuel...once you go more fuel, you'll run hotter...so you need more air. So you get a bigger turbo/intake. Well now your boost levels are higher...so you now need a stronger top end.

But if your just looking at a tuner and intake, maybe and exhaust...youll b good to go man. Just be easy on the tranny.

Thanks for all of the input. I just bought this 2500 last Saturday and it had 42K miles on it. There was an rpm issue when you have it in drive and came to a stop, it would want to accelerate as soon as you let your foot off of the gas. A couple of times if I was backing up and I went from reverse to drive, it would rev up enough that it would stall the engine (never seen that in an automatic tranny before), anyway, I took it back to the dealership to have it checked out and come to find out that the torque converter was bad but I'm assuming that the previous owner had this problem for a while and it damaged the tranny so they are replacing the torque converter and transmission with a rebuilt/re-furbished one. Of course the wife looks at it as "we bought the truck and it already has problems" but I look at it as I'm getting a new/rebuilt tranny with a used truck with only 42K miles on it. Too bad I have to wait till next week to install my Predator tuner. I got it today and I have to look at it for a week in the box.

You'll enjoy the change the Predator will bring.
