I had enough of the this is normal (Bad but normal), and customer service that is anything but. I traded my 1500 in for another F150. I have never had any issues with the ones I have owned before, and still own a 2023, like I have had with this. The tranny issue everyone loves to talk about on here as a reason to stay away from Ford, I have never had.

If you go to any forum most of the folks find them looking to figure out an issue. With all the Rams/ Chevy/ Fords out there, the forums make it seem like a small percentage of them are the norm. I wonder how many folks own a truck with out issues, and never get on a computer let alone a forum. Ever thing made by man has issues, depending how the company takes care of them makes all the difference. @RamCares Thanks for nothing.

@ Everyone else Thanks. This has been one of the friendlier forums I have been on.

I think that's mostly the truth. Most people's trucks - any of them - relatively few people have problems. Online forums magnify any issue and makes it seem bigger than it is, though some issues that come up enough are definitely a trend. I'm one of those people who haven't had any issue in 7 years and 62k miles. I bought my truck in January 2019 and it's only been back for maybe a recall or two and and oil changes.

I agree with the ^^^ post. I have been a happy RAM owner since 1999.

I grew up in a Chevy family and was ostracized when I committed blasphemy and purchased my first RAM.

I changed brands because my 4 year old Tahoe with less than 50K mikes started having transmission issues. At the time I was an Auto Theft Detective and working a major employee theft case at a local Dodge dealership. On a break in interviews, I mention to one of the managers that I was looking for a new truck and was going shopping that weekend. He suggested a 1500 Quad cab.

I was very skeptical at first, but then I looked at the numbers. Matching equipment and capability I would save close to $3500 on a RAM. So I gave it a shot.

That was October of 1999, the truck was a 2000.

Since then I have owned one of each generation. I did switch to GMC in 2020, and regretted that decision. I purchased a special edition Harley 1500, and that truck was a nightmare. Was it just a one off bad build, I don’t know. But I got rid of it in Jan of ‘23 for a Durango, which we still have. And in Jan of ‘24 I purchased new Rebel GT.

All of that is to say this. I have been very pleased with both my RAMs and this forum.

Ram is over all pretty decent with the exception of their 5.7 Hemi and their seat upholstery material. I owned / drove Chrysler products for over 50 years of the 60 years that I've been driving. The only problems that I encountered have been on my 2012 Ram 1500. I planned on keeping it until "death do us part" but now, maybe not.

I must have been an anomaly then. When I came to the U.S. in 2011, we bought a 2003 Ram 1500 SLT 2WD with the 4.7L engine (unseen, over the internet, delivered to the airport!), and everyone was crying about engine oil sludge, transmission blowout and rear diff blowout.

None of that happened to me. The heater core took a crap and that was it. We had it up until 2018 when I sold it, with maybe 110K miles (don't remember). This is what it looked like after all my wrenching, and I still miss it.

IMG_20181208_074633_9771.jpg

Our 2018 RAM 1500 Laramie 4x4 with the 5.7L, we bought new. It has some minor issues (folding mirror, rear view camera, inside door handle/panel,...), but no life-or-death problems like others have reported. Well, the exhaust leak was unnecessary to be honest (factory should have covered that!), and the CV axle was annoying.

20251204_093645(2).jpg

Same with our other Chrysler products, a 2013 Durango (water pump failed, during factory warranty), 2015 Dart (brake hose, starter, coolant connector/hose) and a 2023 Charger. (shifter display, replaced under dealer warranty). We don't baby our vehicles, but we also don't abuse them, we do regular maintenance and only put good fluids in there.

Since you went back to Ford, I have an honorable mention; our 2010 Ford Fusion S. What a wonderful car that was.

recovered_11507.jpg

And I also miss our 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix and the 1995 Chevrolet Beretta Z26 and..... I could go on :party52:

Finding a good dealership is key, and it took me 14yrs and six dealers in two states to find one!!!

Why not pay homage to that dealer, drop their name/location, and help others in your locale?

.
Right?! I thought I have done so before, but I could be wrong.

If you are in Central Texas, give Cameron Country a try.

I enjoy reading this, as well as other forums pertaining to Ram ( Dodge ) trucks. I have owned and driven these vehicles since 1972 and have experienced the evolution of the brand. As well as how customer service has been a slow but steady decline. While Dodge trucks were as good and dependable a vehicle as the other 2 major brands they understood they were number three behind Ford and Chevy so the service departments made up for it ! The attention that Dodge Truck owners received was great! Now I have nothing good to say about Ram Cares except they have a fantastic ability to give you the runaround treatment and the ability to talk you into believing that those vibrations and noises are in your head not the truck!

Good luck with your Ford. I did the same thing after 9 new Rams. I bought a new 2025 Ford Raptor 801A. I orderd another Tungsten at less than 600 kms. The Raptor isn't a bad truck but whoever designed the interior should be replaced.

Sorry to see U vamoose, maybe just stick around and contribute.

I have had my share of issues with my early built 5th Gen, but it is still sitting out front, and overall goes as it should (still haven't had the latest TSB done, not wanna play and/or let the dealership play and end up with another problem, hee hee. The last time the local place did upgrades, they upgraded 6 modules and left me with a STAR case never resolved, but work around solves it (That Dealership still denies all may be the reason I did not buy from them last vehicle)).

Best I ever owned was a 68 Cutlass, but that was a few lifetimes ago. Had a 2001 Ford Super Cab F150, with 4 speed, straight 6, 300 inline motor, and that was the most trouble free (Not counting the 74 Mercedes SEL I had in Europe, that was a beast, but as U know vehicles in Europe with Military tend to go round and round). U R correct, most pop into a forum to biotch and run. Good bunch of folks in here tho.

I am still hanging around. The thing is the engine and tranny seemed fine in the 8000 miles I drove it over the 11 months I had it. It was a bunch of little stuff that added up, then no help from Ram Cares, no way to open Star cases. My Dealer East TN Dodge did all they could, but the mother ship failed. The longest vehicle I owned was a 1980 F150 sold it in 2005, I did drop a new motor in it in the mid 80's. I had a 2015 F150 with the 2.7 that I got to 306K miles before I sold it. Never had an issue.

You talking about the electrical issues with the new Atlantic Architecture on the 25's and on? My son has a 25, he had it 3 months and got rear ended. It was all repaired. When he went and got insurance estimates, they had to use 2024 parts list, as 25 was not available. NE WAY, he has been lucky so far, but I do keep him informed on stuff I read about and let him know if I think he may be affected.

My 2019 RAM will reside out front for ever (note Avatar). I wanted to get a 26 1500, but no E Junkola/no twin DI Turbo either. I also read that GM was allegedly gonna put out 1500's/Sierra's, not know how many or when with redone 5.3's with NO AFM/DFM. That if true would make me take a look. But alas, who knows what is gonna do what. Kinda luck of the draw, IMHO.

I did get my invitation but will decline. By the time I would go I'd be driving the Ram anyway. I have friends that went and had a blast!
