Hello everyone, I've come upon a problem and I need some help! I was topping off my oil the other day and I noticed a small amount of green slimy residue and some h2o condensated up inside my filler cap. I obviously panicked! So I pull the dipstick and the oil shows no signs of h2o. The truck is running fine. So what gives? Cracked head, block or head gasket? There doesn't seem to be any steam coming out of the exhaust. Has anybody experienced this sort of thing? Any input would be appreciated. 2003 ram 2500 4x4 5.7 hemi 195K miles.

From what I've read it's just condensation and a sign that your PCV valve isn't working properly. Had the same thing and immediately thought I had coolant in my oil (til I remembered I have orange coolant) til I Googled it. Seems pretty common apparently. I cleaned it out and replaced the valve when I changed my oil a week or so ago. Haven't had it back since but it's only been a couple hundred miles.

A very common issue and there's nothing wrong with a little condensation on the underside of the cap.

Thanks guys. It has been another week and still no probs. I'll replace the pcv and see if that takes care of the h2o. I appreciate the help.
