Has there been any update on the 2500 brake unit replacement? Last week, while towing my trailer, the warning light for the ABS and electronic breaking came on. I decided to get off the highway and had no ABS and no trailer breaking and was nearly clipped by a passing car because I couldn’t stop. Needless to say, I left the trailer in New Mexico and made my way home to Phoenix. Regardless of what they’re telling you, it’s dangerous to drive the truck, especially if you’re hauling something. I can’t get an answer from my dealer other than the 3500s have been addressed. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Interestingly the prices online for the AB HCU have dropped significantly. I paid a Diesel shop to install the AB part and was reimbursed via the recall. That was about a year and a half ago and it was hard to even source the part then. I ended up buying a spare in case it happened again for $250.

Sounds like you need a new dealer. The recall was announced back in December. There is no way the 3500s have all been addressed by now.

Tell them to look up recall C4B.

6 months have passed... Any new information??

2018 2500 Laramie with Cummins has been showing me the ABS and electronic braking system warning for over 6 months. The dealership promised to notify me when they receive a “fix” for the problem. Any suggestions?

I have registered with Ram to be notified when there is a resolution, nothing yet. I have pulled fuse F26 to eliminate the "dinging".

I bought a used one from a 2011 1500 off eBay and swapped the HCU motor today. Drove it a few miles and no lights or dinging so far. You can test the motor by touching a 9v battery to the terminals on it. The original one I replaced a few years ago and the one I just took out did not spin when testing with the 9v battery but the 'new' one from the 2011 did. I never got reimbursed from the first one cause I can't find the receipt and I paid my buddy to replace it in his shop. Sucks that you have to pay out of pocket for recall issues. I had planned on keeping my truck for another 5 years at least but I was about to trade it in last week when this happened again. And it wouldn't have been another Ram/Dodge product
