My apologies if this has been addressed in a prior thread, but I searched & did not find anything. I have a 2011 2500 Laramie Longhorn 6.7 & it is equipped with the Alpine speaker package with a Sirius "RHR" head unit. This head unit has a habit of completely freezing up... meaning none of the buttons or functions will work when it does this... the display is still on but everything is frozen, even the clock in the lower corner stays at the same time! The only thing that will function is it will allow me to eject a CD and reinsert it, but everything else still stays frozen. It normally does this when I switch media like going from bluetooth stream to AM/FM and The only way I have found to correct it will be to pull off the road, turn the key off, open the door like I exited, wait 30 seconds to 1 minute for everything to power down, then start back up & it will function correctly from there.
This has been an intermittent issue for a few years, but is happening more frequently lately. Did it 5-6 times last week on a 10 hour road trip.
I really don't want to move to an aftermarket head unit, but after pricing a replacement factory head unit I may have to go that route. I am open to any & all suggestions... let me learn from your experience! Are there solutions to repair? If I must replace with aftermarket, are there any units out there that function well with the factory set-up's , backup cam, uconnect, navigation etc?
