Hi all, just sharing my experience. I have had Doug Thorley headers for awhile now, the headers themselves fit great, the Y pipe has always been a little hard to get a seal due to angles, and how thick they are to crush with a cramp. Also have not been running CATs and using a Solo muffler. Between the noise and exhaust smell, I finally had the Y pipe welded up and added a CAT.
Used one of the CATs from the factory Y pipe and put it after the Y pipe. Wow, it has made the pickup much more enjoyable with the reduced smell and what I think, improved quality sound. While not quantifiable, it seems the pickup has a bit more throttle response or more oomph. Could be just less distracting noise. Also didn't really seem to affect mpg. No affect on existing tune. Also don't have to trip on the old factory Y pipe anymore and a spare CAT for future use
