That's crazy talk. I have a friend that will be helping me do an efan, tc, vb and lt header install, and he said if I were to do it through his shop, he would've charged me $700-$800 plus fluids for installing all of the above

You must be getting the "friend" price. There isn't A shop around here that would do it that cheap. Aamco quoted me 800 just to install the stall 1000 for stall and vb.

nope, not the friend price..... i did some research also in the Dallas area for just the torque converter and valvebody install, and a good quality install would run $400 for the tc and vb

there are shops that are quick to give you the shaft. i called a tranny place here just for the tc/vb install, and they wanted to charge $700 plus fluids which is nuts.

I called over 20 different shops in the area and $500 for the install was the cheapest by over $200. I've been calling around for a TC & VB install too, cheapest so far is at $800. Geography matters.

An update on local to me install costs around central FL.

First shop, highly recommended, quoted $800 for the install of the headers alone. I asked if they were kidding.

Second shop, also highly recommended, quoted at $600 for install of the headers, cats & y-pipe.

Third shop said they wouldn't install the headers period.

WTF???

Dodge dealer said if I bought the mopar cat back exhaust they would install the headers off the books along with everything else for $600.

Damn it.

Performance shops around the Chi town area are 100 bucks an hour... That adds up QUICKLY! Modding isn't cheap, but the results can sure be fun! :driver:
