I have a 2016 sport 5.7.40,000 miles。It will issue ticking when starting or leaving MDS.There is no sound when starting and idling, there is no fault code in computer detection.Mainly generated during the acceleration process. Moreover, there will still be irregular ticking when the MDS is turned off in manual mode,Listen carefully and there will still be irregular ticks.Sometimes you can hear it, Sometimes you can’t hear it 。I found a lot of repair shops. They said it was knock. I tried to change the better fuel but there was no improvement.I also changed the oil, Mopar's 5w20, chevron's 0w20 and Mobil 0w40, still unchanged.I think this is the noise of the transmission system, but every repairman told me that this sound will not cause any damage and I can ignore it. I just want to say that this affects the mood too much and feels that the vehicle will be damaged at any time.
And my car will hesitate and shake when it starts at low temperatures. Sometimes even a second start is required.
I don't know if they have any relationship before. I used TCP many times and nothing changed.
No professional after-sales, no warranty. Very headache. I hope everyone can give me some advice.
(I checked the metal clamp of the exhaust pipe and it was not loose. I almost checked every possible part of the screw and chassis, but there were no suspicious problems.)

So far, my car has three unsolvable noises. Turning the steering wheel, the airbag inside is noisy, and it costs $1,000 to replace it. I gave up. The air conditioner compressor has a slight howling, and the sound is not so large that there is no maintenance. Another one is this biggest ticking. After half a year after buying the car, the fan of the air conditioner began to show very loud noise. I spent $250 to replace it.

My evaluation of this truck is that it will not abandon you on the road, but you have been repairing its various diseases.

Wow, I would buy an aftermarket warranty and go get everything handled. Sounds like a truck that was abused and will need repairs in the near and far future.

2013 Sport here, love it

China's ram trucks are all without warranty and cannot be purchased. When I bought the truck, it was only a few miles and should not be abused.

Oh, never heard of a Ram from China. That actually strikes fear into my heart! Learn something new everyday.

No, no, no, it may be my grammatical error. I mean I bought RAM in China。
China does not have an official sales channel for ram. Only private companies imported from the United States. So there is no way to provide warranty service.

People in a lot of other countries jump through many hoops and spend well over what we pay to get the vehicles we have an abundance of here, made here, without any dealer support or warranties. Its all that free trade I guess. Sorry about your truck. Maybe you could post a video of the noise and someone could better understand what it is.

The video does not accurately reflect the noise. When the air conditioning wind is relatively large or the music volume reaches 10, it will not be heard. Only when there are walls on both sides or the air conditioner and music are turned off can you hear them accurately.

If there is literally no change after those oil changes, my money is on exhaust bolts. If it is exhaust bolts, they are correct no harm to the truck will come fix them or not. Now, be careful fumes in the cabin.

The two suspects in ticking Rams are lifters or exhaust bolts, about 48/48 percent of the time. Very rarely is it something else, usually you would get some changes after an oil change if it was lifters.

Oh! I see, man that is a real bummer. I thought for a second they were being made in China. Well, like others have said a video would help, even a sound clip. Hope you find the issue soon.

Thanks for the invitation but I will pass on that. If you want to drive it to the United States I will be happy to listen to your noise!

Craw, I bought a 2011 ram quad cab 4.7/V8 back in September. If I'm driving through a tunnel or in between two guard rails, I can hear my engine ticking like no body's business but if I'm cruising down the highway or sitting at a stoplight I can't hear it.
I was told by 2 people that is my injectors making all that ticking. I was told the 4.7 v8 has very noisy injectors. I like my newer truck but after driving my old 1995 dodge Ram sport regular cab for 18 years, it's hard to transision over to a quad cab. Quad cab is much longer wheel base and I'm still learning how to take LONG turns. Sorry to hear about ur ticking in ur truck, I'd be more than happy to listen to ur truck if u were in Indiana. I have a amplified stethoscope that takes batteries and lets me hear all kinds of noise's. I love this forum, u all keep me on my toes with my newer truck. My old 1995 dodge ram is just turning 222,000 thousand miles and runs better than my 2011- lol. Driving my old truck for winter and have my 2011 in storage.

By your description I would first suspect broken exhaust studs or missing nuts. If you are only hearing a ticking sound on coast down, then I would first suspect a bad cam phaser.

And my car will hesitate and shake when it starts at low temperatures. Sometimes even a second start is required.

There are many things that could be the root cause. I'd start with the basics: air filter, spark plugs, throttle position sensor or idle speed motor, broken or split vacuum lines, etc.

So far, my car has three unsolvable noises. Turning the steering wheel, the airbag inside is noisy, and it costs $1,000 to replace it.

Yeah, I doubt it's the air bag. It is more likely a noisy clock spring in the steering column.

Best regards,
Dusty

A little bit of topic ... Just curious what did you pay for a Ram truck in China? Must be at least double of what we pay here in US due to all the tariffs?

At 40,000 miles my 4.7 was making ticking sounds when first starting it up that sounded like gas knocking. It turned out that three exhaust manifold bolts on the driver's side had broken. Easy to check.

And maybe end up in jail there, but I am wondering if you are hearing " normal' noise, I am half deaf, so small noise don't bother me MDS??? Was the truck O.K. when you got it, Not a wrecked one fixed and shipped over there?

Clarify something for me. You mention a TRUCK and a CAR. Which is it you're talking about??
