My 1997 dodge ram just recently stoped blowing air out of the vents. No matter what I turn the knob to it blows like it's on defrost. It doesn't even sound like it tries to change. Has anybody had this problem before or know what it is?

Idk what that is haha.. but I feel like it has something to do with the switch itself.. it stays on defrost no matter what. But it cuts off.. so idk. I do recall it the vents would close up for a second and then come back on when I first got it

Search for Wild vents and/or heater treater. Have you checked the vac lines in the engine compartment?

Nope... i guess it could be a vac leak under the dash somewhere. My dash isn't cracked yet so I'm a little un easy to take it apart lol

You have the same problem?
Yeah I had this problem after I put my dash back in after replacing my ac evaporator.
My problem was I completely forgot to re attach the vacuum like that goes into the system of vacuum lines from the engine bay.
I would check that line first, since its easy to get to unlike the others.
Also the check valve on that line are a common problem. Not sure if they cause this issue but they're cheap to replace, can't hurt to do it.

I'll try that. Dodge actually makes a kit for I think $75 to fix the vac lines. It says it cures the vent problem and cruise control. And my cruise doesn't work either. but I'm gonna start small

You could probably make the same thing for much cheaper, assuming it's just the lines and check valves.
But alright let me know if you need anything else I'll do my best to help.
